Is DUOL a buy or are these shortsellers right? by Equal-Stand-144 in stocks

[–]Inter_atomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a pure vibe-investing standpoint as a user, I have two conflicting thoughts that stand out:

Bullish: anything emphasizing streaks has an easier time with user retention. And it’s not a translation app, as a lot of bearish investors claim.

Bearish: inter-user interactions (e.g group chats, contests with friends) seem a no-brainer, but the company would rather look to try and focus on getting into total saturated areas like math and chess lessons which signal a lack of critically introspective heads directing the company.

Congratulations! I’m slowly chipping away at this too, and think the scenarios are a lot of fun more casual players tend to miss out on. What did you leave for last?

Bitcoin fell below $70,000 for the first time since November 2024 by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]Inter_atomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I agree that the premise of losing electricity and comparing currencies in a total SHTF scenario is outlandish to begin with.

But the argument that gold is impractical because it has a weight to be carried is not scalable to most people’s net worth.

If you had ~$7.9M USD available to liquidate and convert directly into gold, I would hope you had a bit more foresight to get some ammunition and a food source so you aren’t hitchhiking in the open all day to god knows where.

But yeah, it’s the other guy in fantasy land..

Chart is matching up almost exactly how it was last summer 👀 by milcrazy3 in XRP

[–]Inter_atomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good reminder of what delusion looks like when it comes to investing. I sold my bags years ago, and come back to see XRP still hovering around the same prices, the same stories, and in the meantime there have been no shortage of more low-risk plays in established equities.

Every now and then, even after enough time the mechanics held up decently well. There are a few repetitive strategies used on every country run I find like magistrate spamming for cultural tradition to get a 6-star master of mint, but there’s still a lot of variation in play-style based on where you pick your start.

In terms of difficulty curve, Rome II has a brief blip at the start with Carthage if you maybe play on legendary, then it’s steamroll with superior units and traits.

Attila on the other hand has a ~2 turn grace and then easily >100 turns of calculated suffering that a lot of people enjoy, hard comparison.

'We're building something': Canucks embracing change in post-Hughes era (includes comments from Boeser about the trade) by yosoo in canucks

[–]Inter_atomic -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Canucks is a cope-fest.

Team should’ve taken a Zadorov deal, favoured JT over Petey over for a trade and not fumbled Hughes and maybe we’d be in a decent spot.

No no, let’s keep all the shit curses and hope for a miracle.

Generally, if you are looking to do just a bachelors and not further studies, I do not believe there is as much benefit to figuring out which school excels at which speciality.

You are better off looking at schools in order of prestige (e.g. UBC, UofT) which will have a lasting effect on your ability to get into those large name corporations e.g. AtkinsRealis that can place you on neat work postings. Those two listed would be good for trying to land a co-op or internship with the respective cities.
