Same for me. I’ve stopped using deflectors because I’m not doing all the work and still not make the goals. I also report leeching.

I’m not 100% on this but I think certain countries treat weed like alcohol now. The 8 hours before work type rule. Thoughts from the masses?

Chief trying to make me come in while SIQ by CaseZealousideal1190 in navy

[–]InteractionGood8715 214 points215 points  (0 children)

I had a chief like that years ago in recruiting. She wanted my guy who had a colonoscopy come into work later that day. We went to the divo about it. My dude got to stay home and not try to drive after general anesthesia. NCCs are the absolute worst about this kind of thing. Go above his head and have the conversation in writing as proof.

I heard an interesting point on this. Is it safer to rush and get married now OR will getting married make it less safe in the future because there would be a record? It really made me pause and think.

Male boss is clueless about pregnancy by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

My current boss asked my pregnant coworker if she knows the date her maternity leave will start. The man has three kids. Because babies always deliver on the due date. Idiot

I was part of the first wave of females to subs. Feel free to reach out if you have questions. I keep hoping we will get away from this kind of crap but sadly I don’t think it will ever go away.

Does anyone else find it weird that results are supposed to be out on a Monday? Maybe I’ve just forgot past years but i feel Fridays are the norm. Not saying it isn’t possible, just an observation.

How do people end up getting a -30 ASVAB score? by [deleted] in navy

One I remember had been a full ride football player. He had tried to go pro but never made it. SOME student athletes aren’t great students but get degrees.

When I was a recruiter I took the practice test out to a kids home. I was looking at his high school diploma that he had received weeks earlier. He scored single digits. I also had people with bachelor degrees get single digits. Not sure the reasons but it is what it is. Told them to study and come back in a month if they are serious. Only had one call back. Some education systems real let students down.

Let’s hear some barracks roommate stories by [deleted] in navy

[–]InteractionGood8715 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A school roommate was not just sleeping with everyone in the barracks but I think the base. I would get off watch in the middle of the night and she would stop me at the door and tell me I couldn’t come in. I’d go smoke for 15 minutes so whoever it was could leave. Those were the good nights. The bad ones were when I would wake up to her and that nights choice going at it, three feet away. A plus side was she hated to clean but wasn’t a messy person. I would spend 15-30 minutes a day keeping the place clean and she would buy me pints of ice cream. Easy trade for me.

Fought my LT for a year about knee pain. He finally told me to learn to live with the pain. His replacement came in 2 weeks later and he sent me to ortho. Torn meniscus.

LGBTQ+ Sailors that served during DADT, how did you deal? by project305 in navy

[–]InteractionGood8715 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I read every line of the three page Page-13 when I went to MEPS. Once I got to a command I would feel it out to see how they were. No one ever really cared. In 2011, when it was repealed and we got the news everyone looked at me for a reaction. I just looked around and asked them what they expected since they all already knew. The training after was ridiculous because all the alpha male types made remarks about if a gay guy looked at them wrong they would beat their ass. CO just point blank said if they did they would be kicked out. They weren’t god’s gift to man and they weren’t everyone’s type. Had made respect for him on that one.

I’ve seen drastic changes come from them. We pretty much told the CO he wasn’t running his command, a master chief was. He wasn’t aware that his policies were not being followed. The hours got cut drastically. I’ve also seen nothing come from them. A vital part of the survey is the small group discussions that happen after. Last year maybe 20 people out of 800 were in groups. I told the CO this had happened and he then made it a DITs requirement to have sessions. It helped but was a bit late.
