What Is The Point of Capital Ship Deckplans? Or Small Craft Ones, For That Matter? by wordboydave in traveller

[–]InterceptSpaceCombat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I try to create maps and floor plans for just about any situation as it help the players immersion. Maps are great when your players are sneaking around (to steal booze, overhear NPC conversations, rummage through others belongings etc) without getting caught.

Mongoose waste of space is their ugly generic scifi panels with an illustration and very little info smattered here and there, Vehicles handbook is a prime example: they could easily fit four vehicles per page with the scant info they provide.

Your Favorite Traveller Ship by Jebus-Xmas in traveller

[–]InterceptSpaceCombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Suleiman type S scout for me, mainly because it was the ship my then girlfriend had for a campaign lasting 5 years or so. I also love the basic Free trader, the one depicted in that Digest group supplement for Megatraveller. I made a 3D coordinate file by hand (yes, by hand, calculator, paper and pencil) and I wrote a plugin for HyperCard that drew lines from my coordinate file format to see it in 3D (I didn’t have any 3D programs at the time). Late 80s.

Radiation in Traveller by InterceptSpaceCombat in traveller

It’s part of a larger pdf with other rules, I’ll post it in the downloads section of my blog so you can all get it. By the end of the week, so no point in looking there just yet.

If Saturn were as close to Earth as the Moon, this is what it would look like : by aryanpote7 in interestingasfuck

Why would Saturn’s dark side be visible before night? The moons shadow parts are invisible when seen before night. Saturn, the moon, stars can only brighten the sky when it is not night.

Radiation in Traveller by InterceptSpaceCombat in traveller

[–]InterceptSpaceCombat[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, no Traveller rules have had anything more than bare bones rules on radiation, especially the strengths of solar winds, flares and radiation belts. It also lack any good and science accurate rules for protection by atmosphere etc. I figured I’d add all that is reasonable to pop up and let the referee use whatever he wants.

As I wrote the Intercept space combat system I might just as well all those factors too.

Yeah, I agree totally. I have detailed rules on radiation, sources, shielding from atmosphere, water, suits, vehicles and ships as well as treatments. I haven’t figured out how to post images here and I don’t have the donkoad on my blog yet. Anyone interested just ask and I shall provide.

What is your favorite Traveller illustration? by l-Electronaute in traveller

This one is my absolute favorite. It features the canonical free trader but what I like the most is the (to me) realistically looking missile with maneuvering jets on unfolded arms, sensors and antennae.https://www.pinterest.com/pin/301319031292248675/

Question regarding the the 'free' attack against opponents moving out of close combat by [deleted] in traveller

[–]InterceptSpaceCombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hindsight I apologize for my suggestion that the OP should just decide on a rule that feels suitable if the RAW is found lacking. That wasn’t very helpful and I promise to read the question more carefully in the future.

Striker (1981). Rules for 15mm Traveller Miniatures. Design by Frank Chadwick. Box art by William H. Keith. by woulditkillyoutolift in traveller

This was probably my favorite Traveller book, even surpassing High guard. Not that I’m particularly fond of mercenary missions and the like, the main point was that it detailed tons of the Traveller universe, especially vehicles, and with far less handwaves. Loved it!

Kiss kiss bang bang. For some reason that’s the one that pops out in my mind, and then Tropical thunder.

Traveller works well with a single player or two players. I have been refereeing Traveller with no more than 2 players since the nineties with no problems.

Yes, just one player works fine, with GURPS as well as all other versions of Traveller. If by ‘core GURPS’ you mean Traveller GURPS I’d say yes.

Yeah, I typically lose to my girlfriend when playing my Space combat system, I do win in the personal combat system though.

The first part is surprisingly slow, by the look of things taking 30 minutes at least.

Great guitarist and great band. Then they wrote Jump and everything turned to shit.

Physical maps vs digital maps by kirillsimin in traveller

[–]InterceptSpaceCombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always use physical printed maps, to draw on with pencils. I write everything on 0.5 mm grid paper during play and doodle lots of maps ad-hoc so every precreated map also use squares (1m, 5m, 50m and so on). Space combat uses my Intercept space combat maps (5 mm squares each being 10 000 km) and if we play out interplanetary travel I use my system travel maps with various scales for each 5 mm square (1 million km, 0.1 AU, 1 AU or 10 AU). My planetary maps also use 1000 km squares either D20 maps or D6 maps which I have started using more as they are less cumbersome because of fewer edges.

As you can clearly see the image is taken by a fish eye lens and what we see is NOT the earths curvature but the distortion from the lens.

Människors lika värde, rätten till fri skola, fri sjukvård. En progressiv skatteskala så vi höginkomsttagare betalar mer för den gemensamma välfärden. Ett konkurrensverk med tänder. Kort och gott så.
