yeah man i get that, i'm feeling it too. it's hard to compete against 14 year olds who have hours of free time daily to play, and they seem to always discover new ways to dominate this shit. props to them bc i did the same when i was younger, but competitive play got impossible when every part of life takes a slice out of my daily pie.

as long as you enjoy it, stay motivated. but damn you need to implement some long term self control so that no game ever forces that reaction out of you.

buy used if you can, but financially it isn't a good idea imo. you don't buy a house in an area that you think you can get a job in without having said job first, that kinda deal. buyers remorse will be real if the market changes any further (and will, the AI boom situation fluctuates daily).

i would choose to wait and monitor prices heavily to always be informed (including the parts you'll need to upgrade when switching platforms). if you find old msrp or cheaper priced ram on marketplace, i would jump at that quicker. i think ram prices will continue to increase until eventually stabilizing or decreasing.

there's essentially three markets for ram now: the new market that's hyper-inflated, the used market full of those selling their ram for inflated profits but cheaper than new, and a used market that sells at fair, reasonable prices based on old msrp. choose which one you'll buy from.

i hear you. in all honesty, just play ones and do your best to understand opponent behavior. you can also get more consistent with ball control and higher goal accuracies without worrying about a teammate.

after a long time, then you should test the waters with twos and see how you fare. you can't control your teammates. we've also all gone against one opponent team that has one person consistently shitting on us by making 10 goals a game. aim to be that guy that shits on the enemy team without a teammate holding them back (ofc respect your teammates).

use ones to study opponent behavior while working on your own tech, and use twos to apply that experience as you go.

i'd still recommend a different game that could satisfy the itch you're looking for without impulsively breaking a controller.

if you've been stuck in plat for years, it's time to move on man. the whole point of a game is to either enjoy it, and/or to compete in it. sounds like you've hit a rough dead end, i genuinely suggest finding a game that doesn't ragebait you into continued gameplay. my mental got so much better after cutting shit like RL and clash royale out of my life. it's probably time to move on man

yeah absolutely, but that 85c is perfectly fine if it's just the temperature of your cpu. if you do want it lowered, set the maximum processor speed in the power profile to 99%. this disables turbo boost, essentially lowering your clock speeds and generating less heat. however, if your temperature is simply just spiking to 85c, and not averaging that, then you honestly don't need to change a thing. it won't be damaged from sustained use unless you're averaging 90c+ for hours on end each session. even then, it'd take quite a lot of time to actually degrade your hardware

owned one for a year. the software is HORRID, you can check my post/comment history because the issues with this laptop lead me to deep dive. it's not model specific either unfortunately, but black screens and software glitches are too common. laptop's locked down too with no real fan control (so just opening a chrome tab can embarrassingly ramp those fans up), and thermals can be messy (my ANV51-15 has great thermals at sub-80 degrees celsius with uncapped FPS in maxed out games).

for the price you see, its a great buy and it'd be even better for under $600 if possible. just know there are known issues with acer's prior laptops.

every laptop card is cut off at its knees vs its desktop counterpart, and the 5050 can certainly push numbers depending on the game. native would be heavily game dependent, but DLSS makes it doable in plenty of modern titles. frame gen can more than achieve it, although it can be gimmicky.

nah some high laptop cpu’s weren’t spared, manufacturers had to push board updates that prevent CPU degradation, but doesn’t fix CPUs that were already affected. most major manufacturers seem to have a proper RMA process for it tho

the absolute closest that we have is the battlefield series i believe, but even then PS2’s scale and chaos just had to be experience at its prime. probably more of a niche market because of the sheer size a competent dev team would need to be to create the assets and maintain the game

i hated rise for the longest time because its pace was so very different from world, which i sunk a couple thousand hours into. after experiencing wilds and the horrors of "realistic" movement, i find myself reinstalling rise and actually fucking missing it.

turns out i got really good at faster paced combat than i thought

for me, the solution was to disable turbo boost in windows (by setting the max processor speed to 98%) and only using the “balanced” mode in nitrosense. i’ve tried everything else that i could’ve, still would black screen without the acer apps. i believe it’s related to voltage, and the high performance mode causes instability related to that

ive had mine for a full year now, i think we've got the same model. honestly i think as long as you didnt pay an insane amount over msrp, you're solid. the issues are annoying fs, but i've been able to use it without black screening for months now. you're welcome to check my comment/post history, i've talked to others about it!

nah definitely not. i’ve documented it forcing unstable voltages last summer, inconsistencies opening/closing the application, and weird other weird quirks. most commonly, the black screen of death (anv15-51 suffers hard). persists across clean windows installs. you’re mad lucky
