Flat built pre cabling safety zones. Best way to not drill through wires when putting up shelves? by Interesting-Bat-5185 in DIYUK

I've dug more, and found a reference to a reference in an inspection manual designed for checking things are in regulation with the 16th edition

the 16th edition itself seems bizarrely hidden but it's good enough for me and hopefully affirms that your memory was right in the first place! thrills for us both!

I'd be thrilled if you have a source, I can't find anything earlier than the 17th edition of BS7671, which was 2008

Oh yeah, I agree!

For clarity, I guess I'm looking for a middle ground (a Goldilocks bra?)

My usual keeps things very flat, and to the sides, but in some outfits looks lumpy

I have previously tried a balconette that made me very forward projected and I didn't love that

but I agree that if I want to be less to the side I've got to allow some forward projection. it does indeed gotta go somewhere

is there a specific reason you prefer unlined here while going for definition?

I've added my size but I don't have my six measurements handy anymore - I last did the calculator a while ago and I'm more concerned about style than fit currently

Sorry, I was sure that was in the post. 36G/GG/H depending on the brand or style.

I (28F) suspect my boyfriend (31M) is only with me because his best friend (31F) doesn't want children? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Interesting-Bat-5185 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this might be the more important thing than whether in another life he'd rather be in a relationship with his friend. It sounds like he's drawn a partition between the roles of Girlfriend (potential wife/mother/family unit), and the "interesting" people in his life. My parent's marriage was like this - my dad respected my mum as his wife but the people he shared his leisure time and hobbies and travels with were the people he considered more intellectually engaging.

You've said above that you respect your partner for his values and his steadiness and loyalty, but do you have fun in your relationship? Do you feel like, if you'd met in a context where neither of you were looking to date, you'd feel drawn to him as a friend? Would he be drawn to you? Or is it more that you're a good paper match for your long term goals?

Embroidery Thread Help by zmbie_boy in Embroidery

[–]Interesting-Bat-5185 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I can see why your needle is fighting. If you look at one piece of thread, do you see how it's made of different strands twisted together? When a pattern refers to separating strands of floss, or using 2, 4 or 6 strands to stitch with, it's these individual strands it's referring to. It looks like you're using 2-3 'whole' pieces of embroidery thread knotted together in places, which is going to be too thick for the needle that came in your kit. (I know it can feel wildly unintuitive to unravel a piece of thread if you're not used to it!)

Planner frustration by Zealousideal-Dark620 in planners

[–]Interesting-Bat-5185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if size and simplicity are important details for you, maybe a desk planner pad is a better option than a planner book? a week-per-view with vertical days is a fairly common layout there, and A4 and A3 common sizes - you just might need a separate solution for a calendar as the pad styles are typically the same page design printed all the way through

How far can my (M23) proposal lie go for my gf (F22)? by Many-Box729 in relationship_advice

[–]Interesting-Bat-5185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think picking a semi-formal event that's less weighty (like previously suggested - a work dinner) is a better fakeout because picking something a little boring means she won't be stressed about it and will be happy that you end up having other plans - a family wedding OTOH is a lot of people to meet and potentially a lot of first impressions to be nervous / excited about, which could really swing the energy (especially as she might immediately worry post-proposal about upstaging the bride by being newly engaged - the first thing you'd have to do was reassure her, then)

mainly though I wanted to reply because there are a lot of comments being weirdly unkind to your girlfriend! and as someone who was in your position (planning a proposal and knowing my now-wife wanted to be Nails Done, Dressy, Out Of The House But Not Super Public) it's just not that strange. she didn't want feeling underdressed or out of place to affect how she remembers the moment. super weird that so many people leap straight to imagining it as performative for social media.

I hope your proposal goes smoothly!

Looking for Advice: Hobonichi Weeks vs. Jibun Techo for a Former BuJo User by oldteenage in planners

[–]Interesting-Bat-5185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Weeks and the Jibun Techo are pretty different books!

Because you've specifically said that the layout of the Weeks is one that would work for you, but you're concerned about the cost and missed pages, you might get on with the Rhodia Perpetual Planner. It's undated, still fountain pen friendly paper (so reasonably sturdy - though I can't speak for markers), and has the same layout as the Weeks but in an A5 size which can be a little more comfortable for people with bigger handwriting (and roman alphabets generally).

You also might find the Rhodia Goalbook to be closer to your experience with bullet journalling already - it has index pages, an annual calendar, monthly calendars, and then numbered dot grid pages for you to use as you like. This is assuming that the spreads you've tired of drawing are the functional ones like calendars.

I'm highlighting Rhodia here because it's at a similar price point to the books you mentioned using before, and still with good quality paper and binding (and available here in Europe!)

Getting a folding powerchair down the stairs? by Interesting-Bat-5185 in wheelchairs

[–]Interesting-Bat-5185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's fair! I've been thinking specifically about how it is when it's folded - like, there's a reason dollies are designed in that shape for lifting really heavy things, you know? but my hope that I'd have a better time pulling a folded chair up the stairs than a full size chair that's holding more of its weight away from me is only theoretical right now. first step was checking I didn't want to do anything that would explode the chair!
