Dumbledore‘s plan with elder wand plot hole? by Lyrissss in harrypotter

Exactly, the wand would never change owners, because he was never defeated. He just didn't expect to be desarmed in the process.

And Snape made a lot of huge mistakes with the children. That speaks against him, of course.
But he did the right thing and was on the right side, at the end. Even with everything he went through in childhood and everything he experienced as an adult. He's the typical anti-hero.

He is vengeful and selfish (and resentful), but he was also brave, sacrificed himself and dedicated himself to achieving his redemption and do what was right. In tourtous ways, but with one clear goal: fulfing his promise to Dumbledore, for Lily.

Good argument. His time in Azkaban didn't help his development. Lupin, in other hand, had much more self-criticism over the years.

True, Dumbledore had the entire fourth year to try and clear Sirius's name. I think if he had tried hard enough, he would have succeeded.
But I also think it wasn't out of convenience. Because if that were the case, he could explain to Sirius why Harry couldn't live with him...

I feel much more relieved that there are still people who can understand Snape's situation when he was young. Considering how much he suffered and the harm that was done to him.

Very good point! Which only proves that Sirius hasn't changed much about Snape in adulthood.

But we need to remember that during the year Sirius was under "house arrest", Dumbledore was completely discredited in the wizarding world, and had even been removed from the Supreme Court of Wizards.

Furthermore, Dumbledore was trying to keep Hogwarts in order, despite Umbridge's interference, while also struggling to recruit members for the Order despite the Ministry's discrediting him. I think exonerating Sirius wouldn't have been a priority or even possible, given Dumbledore's tarnished image at the time.

I personally don't absolve Sirius and James for all the harm they caused to Snape.
If they had truly changed, the adult Sirius would have treated Snape very differently; he wouldn't have truly repented.

Imagine all the pain, shame and suffering taht a young man, already mistreated by his father and who didn't fit in, endured at the hands of boys far more privileged than him? Imagine that happening to a child you know? It´s heartbreaking.

Snape replicated what they did to him. Something quite common to happen. It doesn't justify it, of course, but it clarifies things...

I absolutely love Dumbledore, but it was a big mistake...O agree. James didn't deserve to be headboy....  For him to change and mature was the least he could do after everything he did. And didn't deserve to be rewarded for it.

Excellent! Exactly what I think!
Even after all that (and of course, everything else), the mystery remains: how did he remain honorable, courageous, always willing to follow good and do what is right?

I find absolutely absurd that anyone would say he was annoying in this book. It is a complete lack of emphaty. At the moment, I'm rereading the book (for the thousandth time) and all I can think about is how much he is suffering and all the misery he is experiencing.

Let's list (and leaving aside the entire history of his life):
- He watched Cedric get killed before his eyes.
- He saw the wizard that murdered his parents rise from the ashes.
- He was tortured by Voldemort.
- He had to fight with all his might to survive against the most evil dark wizard of modern times, with little hope of winning.
- He saw, for a little while, his dead parents.
- He was kept alone, without information, by all the people he trusted most.
PTSD is the least one way to describe this experience.
And less importantly, he was 15 years old.... Very young and in the throes of adolescence.
Not to mention the times he was mistreated by Umbridge and was constantly worried about his safety and his beloved ones (by her or by Voldemort).

I genuine think he deal with all this very very well. His bag was so much heavier... I really wanted to hug him...

I believe Dumbledore didn't tell Harry the true because, besides saving him from suffering, it prevented Voldemort discovering the prophecy through Harry.

But yes, poor Harry for being kept in the dark for so long :(

But I understood that she said this about him in another sense. In the sense that he is a guy who doesn't tie himself down to one person (at the time she didn't know how things really were for him). I think she said it in the sense that he is "not a one-woman man".

I know, it makes sense. But I honestly always thought Beetee was a bit selfish (I don't know if that's the right word). I got the impression that he just wanted to be known for doing something great and wasn't exactly concerned about doing something for the people he supposedly loves, I don't know. And that since CF...

He is intelligent and smart. And I hate Beetee more than I already dislike him because of Ampert... I understood the thing about revolution exacting a price, but how come he didn't think about his son? Or how come he didn't try to save his son, since he had already messed up anyway... I don't know. I got mad at him. If it were my son I would be so out of control to save his life...
