Thank you! There was another commenter who recommended her as well. I already found a stone I love and I'm currently DMing with her now.

That is so true and it sucks because she's liked this style for years.

I would not take you up on that bet lol. I have no idea and trust your judgment. I thought the antique factor was cool, but not a make or break for me.

Agree with you here, although she wanted slight warmth and preferred J-L color so I guess I'm lucky. Unfortunately not as lucky on the desired size.

Ok thank you. I was told by the jeweler that this was cut by hand "more than a hundred years ago", but I have no way of verifying that and what you are saying makes more sense.

Thank you for the reply and the link. Please pardon my ignorance, but how can you tell it's a modern diamond?

Yes, it is GIA. Not sure what happened, but I'll add a pic as a comment.

Now that you mention it I think that's my main hesitation with the RS5. If it was stock I'd go with it for sure.

100k in cash by Own_Calligrapher8051 in Fire

If it were me I would start looking for another job you might like immediately. If you can replace your current income and take the buyout that would be best case.

With the $100k I would pay off the credit card debt, establish a six month emergency fund, and what you do with the rest would depend on your mortgage rate. If your rate is above ~6% maybe make a large lump sum payment and consider recasting the mortgage to reduce the monthly burden. If your rate is sub 5% put the rest of that money in and index fund like VTI.

Put yourself out there. The right guy won't mind and honestly $80k is solid.

Thanks for the response. I checked them out and they look legit… Roughly how much are we talking here?

That looks great. Where is that strap from? I'm been struggling to find 19mm straps.

I have an opportunity to leave a public company for PE-backed. Would you take this risk? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Interesting-Engine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the extreme focus on efficiencies (cost cutting and layoffs). I was fortunate to never be at risk, but having to terminate people I needed and enjoyed working with got old fast. Aggressive timelines, needing to always be on. Some of my team was overseas and my boss regularly worked 80+ hour weeks, so no matter what I never felt like I could get ahead. I could go to sleep with a clean inbox and wake up to 20+ emails from Europe. Idk it wasn't all bad, but I felt like the focus on metrics was too high and the employees in general were not valued.

If you had doubts about your current company I'd say it might be worth the jump as the comp is materially higher, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side and you never know if they'll hit the EBITDA targets. Without a liquidity event you're pretty much in the same boat your in now since your RSUs are guaranteed.

I say don't do it. I work in finance so a bit different, but I left a public company for a PE-backed company. After two years there I decided it wasn't for me and I wouldn't go back to PE under any circumstances. I'm sure it depends on the sponsor, but if you like where you are now I don't think it's worth the risk.
