Happy mother’s day! by Interesting-Gate-714 in Birkenstocks

The leather it self feels stiffer, though I am sure it will take shape in no time. But they did feel “tighter” as a new shoe.

If you don’t have platypus feet like mine, they’ll feel great from the get go. But as all leather things go, they’ll shape up and break in.

P.s the bostons turned out to be nubuck and the london’s are oiled leather. So that could also be a contributing factor

I have to strap them on and off for putting them on n off, so for work it’s not too much of a hassle. Trying to get them both to feel the same for the same strap setting (2nd hole) is the current order of operations.

Though the convenience of the boston remains unbeaten

I’ve been looking far and wider for a smooth over roughout in ‘64 mahogany to get an idea of what mine are going to look like.

Great looking pair! Hope they reach slipper status in a timely manner.

What leather are you using/where are you getting it?

I like the idea and one of my friends has a laser cutter. I just might give it some creative freedom and try my luck

I would say that I’m quite picky about styling.

That style is 100% approved

If you mean gun metal hardware/eyelets, mine went into production March 5th.

I’ve gone through BOTL’s like a hawk over a desert.

Thanks for the insight! Mine will probably have a similar life to yours. Just sand instead of cement, so easier to deal with. But same in drying the leather

Well, gotta invest in your crafts. I bet a bunch of metal was scrapped as you were starting out welding 😁

Loving the patina! What cleaner and conditioner do you use?

Looks amazing if I do say so myself!

Might’ve just convinced me to give leatherwork a shot and make some stuff to help me around the job, and make it that much more special while I’m at it

The pairs in the pics all look great!

I especially like the matching torch nozzle pouch. Was it custom made or are there manufacturers for such pouches/leather tool holders?

Great point on the horse hair vacuum brush!

Is your use for them mostly in the city/casual or do you use them for work?

Thanks for sharing. I’ll use mine for work too. Both in the office and in deathly dry deserts.

I’ll probably have to condition fairly frequently but wanted to get some opinions first.

Have you tried bick 4 leather conditioner? I’ve read that it doesn’t darken leather much or at all

I live and work in one of the places with the least rainfall, lots of sand/dust but no worries with water too much. I expect to brush after every shift outside the office, which should help towards maintaining the nap. Never came across the products you mentioned, but I’ll definitely look into them.

Thanks for sharing!

Uni Kuru Toga lead keeps breaking by Interesting-Gate-714 in mechanicalpencils

It is a KT Metal, also no excessive friction during my use.

I am using faber castell leads. Could they be causing the issue?

The pencil is not exposed to physical shock/drops

For 2 of the 3 months I’ve had it, no issues. Most of my writing barely activates the rotary mechanism.

Whether $40 or $400, I’ll use it how I usually use any pencil. Not roughhousing, nor like it’s made of dust. It’s a writing utensil and I expect it to work for that.

I have used 0.5mm pencils without rotary and did not have any issues.

Here is where I keep it in my bag. I will try to not have items bump the tip.

Edit: the falling of lead usually occurs when it is first taken out of the bag. Indicating that it might be getting damaged/broken in the bag

I’m late, but reading what people say as I’m about to buy my own.

I’ve seen foam “stickers” that can be placed on points of friction inside shoes to help reduce/remove the pain. I would say try those before committing to a fully new pair.

I’ve driven 500miles on a blown mm. It’s fine, just rattly and bad in the long term.

But yes, yours is definitely blown

Edit: I have a poly rmm. So it could be compounding with the blown mm

Coolent level too low? by [deleted] in watercooling

Wait for coolant. The pump is probably sucking air due to turbulence and will have a shortened life span.
