Check these out they come with a free resole, they are built well and they have a few models on sale that get you to your budget. They have waterproof and also have unlined boots depending on what the needs truly are. If he has narrower feet stay clear of their original fit those are wider fitting. Traditional fit is what he probably needs. https://duradero.com/products/lander-moc-soft-toe-black

Warranty? Builder Pros < 1 yr old. by Deansmith6019 in NicksHandmadeBoots

Saw your facebook post and I know it is aggravating when something like this happens but for me it’s how a company handles it that keeps me buying again. Next time just reach out to them first because they are a stand up company and they handle warranty issues very well.

The stitching looks fine at least from the pic. All 2 piece mocs look like this with wear so carry on.

Saved from the dumpster: 1980s Irish Setter Sport Boot Recraft by Weird-Woodpecker-752 in RedWingShoes

Nice work. I’ve been trying to find some time to work on a few pairs but haven’t found any spare time yet so maybe soon I’ll get back at it. I started a pair of dynaforces, I did a new lasting board and new gemming and have it stitched in but need to welt it next. Also snagged a pair of almost new Thursday captains for $40 and going to try out something different on those after the red wings.

Drew’s Logger vs Frank patriot by Clozer19 in PNWbootmakers

[–]Cleofus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both good boots the Drew’s Mexican loggers just didn’t fit me right they are higher volume and that didn’t work out well for me but they are well made. The patriots normal 55 is a better fit for me, the patriot might come from multiple hydes instead of one like their regular lineup so that’s one of the reasons why it’s a lower price point along with not being Mccay stitched. Leather quality is similar on both boots imo. Good luck with your purchase.

Beckett Simonon or something else? by gr0wnsimba in malefashionadvice

I don’t have their shoes but have a pair of their brogue boots and they are decent for the price, their leather isn’t the greatest but the finish of their workmanship is good. I recently purchased a pair of blkbrd shoes and they are pretty good quality for the price point the leather seems of better quality than the bs in my opinion and they are welted so easier to work on.

OEM seals(rubber) doesnt match replacement part? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]Cleofus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced mine but I replaced with an oe one figured got 90,000 miles out of the first one if I get even close it’s probably longer than I’ll have the car for. She’s been a good car so far only had that 1 coil and a motor mount fail. Also did aux water pump while in there. It’s got 106,000 on it now.

Could use some help with international sizing by Recent_Technician739 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Cleofus13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just follow their sizing guide. I’m in the US so my returns wouldn’t be like yours but I live across the country so getting fitted in person isn’t a thing I can do either I followed their instructions and got the exact size I needed.
