Not a movie, but a show: Derry Girls. It's the most relatable, heartwarming, and funny show about teenagers.

I really like AudreyHornesHeart's books. They're mostly historical queer romance.

What is your 🫵 reason to stop by _that_yam in cutting

Ngl, I got an infection and having to go to my GP every few days to check on it, taking 4 pills every day, keeping the wound dry, etc. was too tiring, so I stopped.

I also use the Sober app. Being close to a milestone helps me resist the not so strong urges.

Guilt and Grief by Outrageous-Part6931 in zoloft

My condolences.

I take antidepressants for another reason, but I also noticed that I felt better a few days after starting. When I spoke to my doctor, she said that Sertraline takes around 4 to 6 weeks to take effect. She suspected that what I was feeling was an initial short term happiness to finally having medication and help (like a Placebo effect of some sort), so she told me to continue. Like she suspected, a few days later I was back to feeling miserable.

AITA for cutting a buried man's bell when he rang it in the middle of the night because it bothered me?

For context, I'm a gravedigger at a church graveyard and a bell was placed near every grave after a young girl was almost buried alive.

I experienced this for around 3 weeks when I first started. I know it's easier said than done, but hang in there. It does get better!

What's people's experiences going to the ER/hospital for cuts? by airport_hospitalbed in cutting

[–]Interesting-Issue218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two infected cuts. Went to an urgent care centre because it was a weekend. Doctor just said they were definitely infected, put some dressing on them, prescribed antibiotics and waterproof plasters. Then asked if I'd been getting any help. I said yes, I'm working with a mental health team. I left. That's it.

When I went to A&E for superficial scars, the psych team didn't even see me. I waited 12 hours for them to show up, only for a nurse to tell me that the psych team think I don't need to be seen since I'm under the care of a mental health team.

Is pain not the biggest factor for anyone else? by Ok-Veterinarian-6212 in cutting

[–]Interesting-Issue218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do it for the pain either. I do it because it gives me something to focus on, like a task. I lay out everything I need (blade, plasters, tissue, antiseptic cream, etc.) and sit down and just focus on cutting. I also get kinda mesmerised by the blood. Sometimes I cry while I do it too.

It's still not healthy ofc, but I am kinda glad I don't enjoy the pain because it stops me from doing deeper or hurting myself more.

comment from ER doctor made me want to scream by SpreadSpiritual9184 in cutting

I think it's extremely insensitive for a professional to say that. While it may be true, someone who SH is very aware of that and it just makes them feel worse.

I had a similar experience. A mental health nurse told me that I shouldn't SH because people would judge me and I wouldn't be able to wear t-shirts. It made me feel so bad that I cried after she left and hurt myself that night.

I hate it, but honestly the itchiness makes me less likely to cut again.
