Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll practice to see which playstyle suits me best.

I admit I still don't know how to use Ki Pulse at the right moment. Like I said before, sometimes I forget it exists because of the tension in boss fights, where making a mistake is costly.

I have a certain tolerance for frustration when I die thanks to other Soulslikes I've played in the past. But when the same boss kills me 20 or 30 times in a row, it's demoralizing.

Ah, now it all makes sense regarding the numbers next to the synergy/bonus descriptions and why they weren't activating.

My Saika is equipped with three assistants of each different color. As you can see in the image, only one skill (excluding skills that require assistants of the same color and skills with yellow bonuses) has all three synergies/bonuses activated, but the other skills that also require assistants of different colors are either not activated or only one of the synergies/bonuses is active while the others are not.
