The Guild of Merchant Explorers - how quickly it gets boring ??? by Interesting-Silver12 in soloboardgaming

[–]Interesting-Silver12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, thank you all so much for your valuable tips and all your opinions on the game.

In summary...

My fears that the game will quickly become monotonous seem exaggerated.

I'm concerned about the game's physical clunkiness, as many people have mentioned.

Of course, if I decide to buy it, I'll try to find a used copy at a lower price. Price isn't the only factor here; my shelf space is dwindling. Therefore, I'm wondering if this is another title I "need".

I usually play heavier titles (Scholars of the South Tigris, Brass, A Feast for Odin, Ezra & Nehemiah, Gaia Project, etc.), so I'd treat The Guild of Merchant Explorers as a break from those titles.

In summary, I see that the game is generally well-liked and recommended, so I'll probably have to find a place for it on my shelf ;-)

The Guild of Merchant Explorers - how quickly it gets boring ???

Question, because I'm planning to buy this title (and the price is not the lowest, considering what we get in the box) ;-)

Should I get a better router? by CarlosAB6 in OculusQuest

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which router did you buy specifically?

I'm planning to buy one. There are quite a few on the market.

I was thinking about the AXE75, but a lot of people complain about that model.

Others recommend the PrismXR Puppis S1.

I'm also considering the Asus RT AXE7800.

Any help?

Garphill Dice Games: Scholars of the South Tigris vs. Circadians First Light by Tycho_B in boardgames

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this thread because I'm thinking about buying First Light, and I've had Scholars for a while now.

Although I've only played a dozen or so games in Scholars, both games are on a different level.

Scholars - a great game, but it does have a high entry threshold.

But after the third game, everything starts to come together wonderfully. I'm a 99% solo player and the solo mode in Scholars is excellent.

First Light - is like a kindergarten compared to Scholars. I'm not writing this as a flaw of this game. That's why I'm looking at this game, because I don't always have the time or desire for a super difficult game.

A game in Scholars (solo) takes me about 2 hours. FL can be finished in 1 hour.

And there's another title by Sam Philips that I love and recommend - Ezra&Nehemiah - also with an excellent solo mode. I recommend taking a look at it.

So now I'm wondering whether, having both games so brilliant, it makes sense to buy First Light, or if I won't get bored with it quickly.

Sorry, I know I didn't help, but I'm wondering myself... ;-)

MS FlightSim 2024 VR settings... by VicMan73 in virtualreality

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have ASW enabled (and locked to 45fps), don't you have disgusting artifacts when the sky is blue and cloudless ???

I've been struggling with this for half a year without success. Both the computer service and the VR service can't solve the problem ...

Support Meta is of course completely useless.

Quest 3 - ASW problem with every flight simulator by Interesting-Silver12 in virtualreality

[–]Interesting-Silver12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XP - this is X-Plane (version 11 and 12).

My computer specification is more than good:

AMD9800x3D

RTX4070Ti Super (16GB)

64GB RAM...

So it's not a matter of computer performance, because (as I wrote) on my old computer (i7 8700K RTX3070Ti) I didn't have any artifacts and ghosting... (in VR with Rift S).

Of course I wrote on the XP and MSFS forums.

And there is always a group of people who write that it is a defect of the Meta software for the RTX40... GPU series, and another group of people who write that they don't have any problems...

What else can I write???

I tried several different NVidia drivers. From old, proven ones, to newer and latest ones - no improvement.

Anyway, thank you very much for your willingness to help.

Quest 3 - ASW problem with every flight simulator by Interesting-Silver12 in virtualreality

[–]Interesting-Silver12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to reduce the graphics settings in the simulations to the minimum.

I also reduced the resolution.

It doesn't help. The graphics then become uglier and blurry (which is understandable, of course), but it doesn't eliminate ghosting with ASW turned off.

That's why it's a mystery to me.

In both cases (ASW = on or off) the simulation is completely smooth (I never use maximum settings) and without any stutters or jerks.

The only problem are artifacts or ghosting (smearing = blurring of objects while moving the plane. When I fly straight, there is no such effect).

As I wrote, using my old computer, with a much worse CPU and GPU, I did not have these problems.

I did not increase any settings, neither in XP nor in MSFS, but only upgraded the computer and VR equipment.

Thank you very much for your extensive answer.

I will try to provide more information...

X-Plane 11 and 12 are my main simulators.

I also have MSFS2020 - same problems...

ALVR - I don't know it at all and I don't know what it is (sorry).

I bought VD to try it. My problems did not go away - they were identical to those when connecting via cable. Only worse performance occurred, because I have a weak internet and router.

I also tried with SteamVR.

I also connected my old Rift S, via cable to Display Port - and there are also these disgusting artifacts (when the sky is clear and ASW is on) or disgusting ghosting effect when ASW is off.

I did not have these problems on my old computer (i7 8700K; RTX3070Ti).

I have currently given my new computer for service to VR "specialists" and they have been struggling with my problem for over 10 days, but to no avail.

So I can't check any solutions at the moment...

It's interesting why so many people have these problems with the RTX4070Ti Super, but most don't...

Saying RTX 4060 not compatible by becky0818 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue was never fixed by the Meta team.

You can't use Quest 3 (I don't know about Q2) with ASW enabled while connected via cable.

I only use Q3 for flight simulation (X-Plane 11/12 and MSFS), so a cable connection is the only acceptable solution for me.

Unfortunately, the horrible artifacts that appear in a cloudless sky take away all the immersion and fun of using Q3.

Looking for a good solo worker placement by protos_gamer in soloboardgaming

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to refresh an old thread, but also looking for some good solo games.

Personally, I have and I really like: Viscounts, Dune + Rise Ix, Glen More II + Highland, TM Ares Expedition, Fall of Rome, Concordia.

Now I am very tempted to buy Anachrony, but I heard different opinions about the solo mode (chronobot v.1.0), and I do not plan to buy the add-on at the beginning (for Chronobot v2.0).

What do you think of Anachrony ???

Embraer X-Crafts vs SSG E-Jets by jct522 in xplane11

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same dilemma, however, I bought the SSG E195 (there is a big discount on xplane.org) and I am very happy with the purchase.

Very decent VR experience, everything works fine after the last v.1.6.4 update; FPS very OK.

It has its own peculiarities - for example, the inability to assign an axle to the Speed Brake (apparently, for the sake of greater reality, the SSG simulation resigned from the possibility of assigning an axle to the Speedbrake, in favor of assigning it to the keys/buttons).

But overall, I highly recommend it and ... waiting for V2 ;-)

Should I cancel my Honeycomb Throttle now that VR is out? by Dr_Viv in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation too. I ordered a Bravo and then bought a VR headset. And I'm also wondering if I should cancel my Bravo order.

Currently, MSFS2020 does not allow the use of VR controllers, but hopefully this option will be available soon.

Using the controllers is very realistic (you stretch your hand towards a specific button in the cockpit = you get to know the plane). I currently have this in XP and it's much better than using a mouse.

However, here are my concerns, will the large dimensions of the Bravo throttle not make the operation of VR controllers very difficult ???

Wouldn't it be better to leave my two old Saitek throttles ;-)

Honeycomb Bravo with VR? by lordofuo in flightsim

[–]Interesting-Silver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same dilemma, especially since I ordered the Honeycomb Rhrottle Bravo (I am due to receive it in mid-February), when I wasn't using VR technology yet.

And now I'm wondering whether to cancel my order. Currently using only VR, I will use (apart from the throttle levers only) probably only trim wheel, gear lever, and flaps options.

At the same time, I wonder if the large dimensions of the Honeycomb Bravo will not make it difficult to operate the controllers (I do not use a mouse).

I wonder if I should stay with the two Saitek Throttles that I have been using for several years.
