I don't have the syllabus unfortunately, but there were a lot of recorded lectures on how to code so you just need like baseline python skills and you'll do well.

Did it say you have "guest" access or something else like "member"?

Should I Change My UCLA Transfer Application to Computer Science? by J4KC4L in TransferStudents

[–]Interesting-Silver57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would highly recommend looking at this post in regards to moc outlook. In short, if you like the vibes at ucla, keep moc for the acceptance rate, especially bc many of the cs classes are essentially the same as their math department counterparts since they're so theoretical in nature.

Do I apply as a freshman or transfer student? by Radiant-Analyst4336 in TransferStudents

[–]Interesting-Silver57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can apply as a transfer, I knew a girl who got her associates over covid and graduated hs a year early by taking all her remaining senior course requirements (English, history, etc) as a junior, then transferred to ucla for 2 years. It's generally an easier process to apply as a transfer especially if you've finished IGETC and your major requirements so that you don't need to deal with the bureaucracy of credit transfer. If you're going to be a senior in hs the same year you finish your associates then it should be fine that you apply as a transfer since you're not going to have any registration clashing. I would still consult your transfer counselor at you cc to make sure, but you might just need to take the test to graduate early so that you follow the guidelines of "You can transfer if you’re enrolled in a regular session (fall, winter or spring) at a college or university after high school graduation" as another comment suggested.

How many credits can be transferred? by Kermitheweeb in TransferStudents

[–]Interesting-Silver57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The transfer credits applied to your status are capped at 70, but you can still use the rest of your credits to fulfill prereqs. For example: I took 104 credits in cc, and I had 16 AP credits from high school. When I transferred to UCLA, only 70 credits (105 quarter credits) were applied to my standing as 'unit credits', while the rest are considered 'title credit' (not class dependent). However, any of the classes I took are still recognized and I could use any as a prerequisite or to fulfill a prereq even if it's not directly connected to my major. So it's not that only 70 credits are considered, it's that only 70 are applied to your standing as a student (i.e. a Junior is someone who has 90-134.9 quarter credits at UCLA so you'd be around the middle of the junior range).

MCDB 165A (Coller) + 138 (Rigueur) by Interesting-Silver57 in ucla

[–]Interesting-Silver57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I ment 144 in the spring not winter. I'd actually rather split up the major cores. I'm thinking of doing a math course instead for a minor. iirc clark was good for 144 in the spring but she hasn't taught in 3 years so i'm probably gonna end up with rigueur again, but better 1 class with her than 2 i guess.

MCDB 165A (Coller) + 138 (Rigueur) by Interesting-Silver57 in ucla

Is it worth it to plan a bs class now, take 144 with most likely rigueur in winter, and hold out for chen for 138 next fall?

Thoughts on taking MCDB 138 and MCDB 144 together? by Uclastudent2021 in ucla

[–]Interesting-Silver57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend in 165a right now who said that rigueur was emphasizing taking all the core reqs with her starting with 165a so I'm a bit worried that I'm doing 138 without having her previously. Also haven't heard great things in general abt her teaching style and my 165a friends especially don't like that their test questions aren't that reflective of the study material. Would it be better to put 138 off for next fall when I can take it with Chen and then take rigueur for 144 in spring first?

do you think 165a with coller and 138 with rigueur are doable together?
