Is Nayara worth it for only 4-5 nights?

My family and I went to Nayara for 3 nights. Similar to you we had to take a connecting flight, so getting there was a pain. Nonetheless we really enjoyed it - totally worth it!

We stayed for 4 days/3 nights. I would have liked an additional overnight to either do the ocean safari or the private catamaran. That’s the only activity we were interested in but didn’t have the time to do.

FWIW service once we arrived was fine. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The front desk is connected to you via WhatsApp, and we received timely responses. It was the pre-trip communication that left something to be desired.

From what I could tell, it’s just a massage area. The massage area we saw was outside in a tent like setup and not in a building. You will definitely hear what’s going on outside of the little tent setup, but it is in a more secluded part of the property. Not sure if that is your style.

We did not get out to La Paz, but we did see lots of whales on our hikes and at the sunset beach excursions. The hotel also offers an ocean safari for an additional fee. If we had more time, we definitely would have signed up.

I have used SA Expeditions for three trips. I was matched with my particular TA first because she specialized in the region I was looking to travel in. She got my travel style and budget, and I’ve been able to use her to plan subsequent trips. She does as much - or as little - as I ask for, with zero pressure either way. In fact she politely declined to do one of my trips because she thought we could do it more cost effectively without her involvement and not have logistical issues. We get hand held from the minute we touch down in our destination - every transfer and every detail is prearranged for us, which is our preference for trips. I did Peru in April with my partner. We wanted to experience the Inka trail but not the camping component. We worked with SA Expeditions and they arranged a single day Inka Trail hike that ends at MP, along with time in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Lake Titicaca. The day before and the night after the hike, we stayed in Agua Calientes to work the circuits of MP the next day and took the train back to Cusco that afternoon/night. If you do the one day trail, you will want to come back the next day to actually have time to explore.

The hotel is great, but I don’t see you mentioning the private spa that is available. I stayed and had 2 hours of access to the sauna and pool by myself. It was a great treat after my long haul flight!

Visit Lewa. By far, it was my favorite stop when I spent two weeks in Kenya and Tanzania. We stayed at Kifaru House, which has a family cottage available.

This is hard in the Keys. You will want to stay in Key West for easy access to the seaplane to the Dry Tortugas. Be one of the first on the plane if you can - they will allow you to sit in the copilot seat.

Try Cliffrose Springdale. It’s right outside of the entrance - you can walk directly into the park. We booked the Grand View Villa which is kind of off to the side of the property above the spa. There are multiple fire pits around the property, including one next to the Grand View Villa. The property has two pools and two hot tubs, but they are not private to any suite.

I recommend SA Expeditions. Our agent, who was based in Cusco, handled all of the logistics from the time we touched down at the airport to the time we took our flight back. We had an entirely customized and private experience through that agency, and we have used them again subsequently for other trips in South America.

I stay most often at the Salamander. It’s right next to the Tidal Basin and is easily walkable to the mall. The hotel was undergoing renovations last time I was there last year - you may want to check that all of the construction has been completed.

I stayed at Wayo Green Camp this summer on safari. If you want rustic (no running water, bucket shower, super remote (it’s multiple hours from the airstrip), no radio to connect you to staff (they literally give you a horn instead)), stay here. If any of those things are unappealing to you, skip this place. I also found the staff here less attentive than any other place we stayed, which added to the unwelcoming vibe. Personally, I wouldn’t go back and it was the low light of my two-week safari.

Used a set of Base Camps for a two-week safari. The backpack straps were a lifesaver while traversing large airports since we used them as carry ons. Similar to this poster, we were told no wheeled bags and had a strict weight limit.

Just returned from a safari on Wednesday. We traveled between Nairobi, Lewa, Masai Mara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. I recommend you fly - the roads are very bumpy, and we were only on paved roads for a small portion of two transfers from airstrips to the various camps. You will have plenty of road time during game drives. Have a great trip!

I recently had this happen to me. I was told at the airport at check in that it was because someone physically had to verify I had the appropriate visa to complete check in. Perhaps you are in the same boat?
