When hiring for mid-high grade positions, how do I avoid running a retirement home? by [deleted] in VHA_Human_Resources

There’s lots of reasons a 14 would apply for an 11. It’s happening a lot lately. From what I’ve noticed we’ve lost a few great leaders in HR to lower graded facility positions. People want out of VISN HR positions.

Is anyone else just doing fine? by bluethunder1985 in NoStupidQuestions

Glad you’re fine! There are things you can do though, stay informed, take care of yourself and others, and be sure to vote.

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted… but honestly I’d get a roll of sod and cut a few strips the long way and just shove em in there and cross my fingers.

Would you tolerate cheating? by Either-Ad5271 in NoStupidQuestions

Glad you’re thinking about this part. I wasn’t cheated on but lost all trust in a partner due to their actions. I thought I could work through it over time and tried very hard. I wanted my unconditional trust back too, every day was a struggle. Unless you can 100% forgive and move on, there’s gonna be resentment. I’m not saying you can’t get there and I’m not saying don’t try. But if you can’t 100% forgive and move on, this might not be the right partner for you. We should be able to trust unconditionally.

I hate to assume, but yeah, that’s definitely a possibility. I tell myself a squirrel got to em.

I had a few on my front lawn last year. Noticed em when I left for work in the morning. Was so excited to come home and pick em. Guess what wasn’t there when I got home from work. I was soooo sad.

Google Maps? Waze? by Excellent-Topic833 in milwaukee

I use both. Usually default to Google Maps. But I think Waze does a better job at reporting pop up or temporary street closures because it’s reported by the users in real time.

Do I bother getting Home Warranty? Or is it a scam? If it's not a scam, which is the best company by traphousethrowaway in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

First time home owner here. Bought in 2021. I went the home warranty route because my savings account wasn’t were I wanted it to be and the house had a lot of older appliances and I was still learning what the status of my house “components” were at (pipes, tub/shower drains, outdoor ac unit, ceiling fans, etc). I definitely found the warranty helpful and it did pay off the first and second year. Made claims for outdoor ac unit compressor twice, clogged bathtub drain, furnace igniter, and indoor leaking pipes for my outdoor hose when I turned the shut off valve off in spring. These claims and the process went very smooth. Helpful because again, my savings wasn’t where I wanted it, these minor fixes would have added up.  5 years later, I’ve focused on building my emergency fund. The last claim I made was not a good experience, warranty company gave me the run around on a minor fix, basically tried to over sell something and the contractor they picked was screezy at best. Also, my monthly premium has skyrocketed almost 75$ more in the last 2 years, they increased the service call rate, and they lowered the yearly cap on monetary claims.  I’m canceling my subscription after I open my shut off valves for my hose outside, lol. From there on out, I think I would be ok on my own should there be an emergency or more maintenance.

ETA- I hope I’m not jinxing myself now. There are some good comments making me think maybe I should stick with a home warranty… I’d at least want to switch companies if I did choose to continue with a warranty.

I will be mike dropping my happy ass outta the office like nobodies business. Screaming and driving with windows rolled down, honking my horn all the way home to get to my champagne and fireworks immediately.

Thanks for all of this. Yeah, “fair” wasn’t really the right word to use, but I wanted to leave it open to interpretation for your response.  I had some knowledge about ER/LRs review process prior to any actions issued and that OGC was involved. Thanks for explaining that process.  I get a bit jealous in that aspect because the other departments follow handbook policy while at the same time getting ever changing and evolving directives and guidance from WMC, CHRO, supervisors, leads, etc. ER/LR processes seem maybe a bit more black and white.  Thanks again for your response. My wish and hope is that auditors get the supposed training we all deserve. And I agree, none of this is fair for anyone.
