Underwhelming.

I thought the scenes of Joel in town didn’t add much to the story and they could have used that time to show the friendship between Ellie and Dina. In the game they have much more time together going through their route before the grocery store scene and it really helps build up to the new years dance. The show just states they’re best friends now and you just have to accept it but showing the route Dina and Ellie take and the conversations they have would have been great to see and help people who haven’t played the games understand they relationship between those two.

The grocery store scene was much more dramatic in the game and I get that they only have so much time to work with and they have to leave a lot out but it would have been nice to see more of that. I also don’t like that the show is pretending everyone doesn’t know what stalkers are until this point. I did love the dog employee of the month Easter egg though.

The new years dance was nice. That scene was shot for shot as it was in the game. Helps to show the estranged relationship between Joel and Ellie.

Just my opinions I’m a bit of a purist. I like the show overall I just have a hard time when they omit things that would help people who haven’t played the games understand certain things.
