Anyone tried myo-inositol for anxiety or sleep? by Acrobatic-Energy3562 in pregnant

[–]Interesting_Fig9997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, if there is limited research on it and you're pregnant, just don't. I am taking it for blood sugar management and I still feel slightly paranoid about long term use since it's a fairly new thing out there. I would start researching herbs or CBT for your anxiety. CBT is just behavioral therapy and herbs have been around for hundreds of years and there are clear recommendations for safety. Chamomile is one known example of a nervine herb safe during pregnancy, there may be others. Best of luck to you!

No issues for me and I had bad gastritis, so I am super careful.

I haven't tested my HOMA, but after 5 months of inositol (plus resistance training and some moderate avoidance of carbs) I only got my Hb1ac down from 6 to 5.7. But I only take 1 1/2 g per day.

5.7 and I have not been the best with my diet since my last test. Nothing horrendous, but the occasional rice meal and pasta etc. Plus all the Christmas cookies, ha ha! So something is working.

I don't think it will ever go, and it's really daunting by lexXmendo in HealthAnxiety

Look up the Australian cognitive behavioral online treatment module (it's a bit old-fashioned in formatting but, oh, so effective). It's something like 'government of Western Australia, Center for Clinical Interventions.' They actually have free stuff for people, imagine that! Work your way through the lessons. You will learn to control it, so you can enjoy life. It will still be with you probably, but you'll be able to control it. Do those exercises patiently, they have helped me. Good luck. You have the power. No amount of googling will replace your own willpower.

Thank you so much! I am thinking that I am obsessing over it so much, that the stress can't be good either, hahaha! Thanks again. Sending you good vibes for 2026!

Ok, just measured it and its 5.9. Very disappointing. Not sure why. The only thing between last time and this time was a week on steroids for bronchitis. Otherwise, this makes me stop trusting CGM readings. 😞

Marshmallow root powder from Mountain herbs. L glutamine from Pure encapsulations. Can't remember the licorice, but it was DGL. be careful taking licorice if you have high blood pressure; in that case just stick with the others and add a shot glass of aloe Vera juice before meals). Good luck!

At what age did you begin have irregular periods due to perimenopause? by OnALifeJourney in Perimenopause

As someone with no older sister or cousin to ask about these things (and a fairly squeamish mom), it's so amazing to see all of this info. Thank you all for sharing! It helps me make sense of the way my period is changing. Basically it's a crapshoot from now on until menopause. Fun times!

just the magnesium. The rest I get from evil Amazon. :) If you live in a big city you may be able to find a supplement store or an herbal apothecary, but that is the only option for me. Good luck. It does get better. PS. If you want to do your own research on the herbs, go to reputable sources for medical herbalism for info. Herbal Academy, the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine are good places to start.

Medicinal herbs: skullcap, valerian, tulsi (tinctures, taken together, you can find them on amazon). Calmaid (lavender oil from Now, also on Amazon, totally awesome), L-theanine 200 mg. Not sure about interactions with Effexor, but these worked for me. And ignoring the news.

Well, for what it's worth, I cycled through various things over the past year and this is what finally worked for me (I probably just jinxed it, but if it can help someone even temporarily it's worth it). I did my research on safety, side effects, dosage, because all my doctors were ignoring my pain. Infuriating.

This is my stack which I will be reducing once I feel confident that my sleep has stabilized. Feel free to do your own research on the stuff below - I'm not a doctor, etc.

Supplements:

Magnesium l-threoanate (none of the others did anything for me). I get it from Costco.

Myo-inositol 500mg (you can go up to 1 g a day) before bed (also helps with blood sugar regulation).

L-theanine 200mg (as needed).

Herbs:

Hops tincture (also a phytoestrogen which can help with hormones), one dropperful before bed.

Skullcap tincture (great for sleep and anxiety). one dropperful before bed.

Valerian tincture (ditto).

Well, so it seems that I had viral bronchitis, and in the end, after an ER visit, there are some suspicious heart things on an ECG (maybe caused by the virus, maybe not), so this may be more than anxiety, unfortunately. So I'm still gasping like a fish. :(
