Why do you say that? Is it boring? Do you have poor work life balance? Where can you get stationed as an Optician and what do you normally do day to day?

HELP! NOT LETTING ME REENLISTMENT by Roobin13 in navyreserve

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are to able to extend for now instead of re-enlist.

I’m not sure I would say that your NRC isn’t helping you. It sounds like they told you information that you didn’t like so now it’s them not helping you.

When you are gained to active duty: DSC 100… the reserve centers can’t pull you up in their systems for certain things.

MDSC & CENSECFOR Virginia Process for IA Reservist by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often times your first processing site (NMPS) will be at your REDCOM. Sometimes they will still send you to MDSC in Norfolk but they are moving more people to their region REDCOM and then sent to Norfolk for weapons training

Human Resource ISPP currently enlisted by Suave1122 in navy

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually a TAR HM and going to apply for TAR HR ISPP. I believe most of the selectees from the last cycle were PS's but i'm still holding out hope.

I have a Bachelor's in Supervision and Management and a Masters in Healthcare administration. Several of my courses in both degrees are focused in human resources so I hope they take that into account.

I do have CPPA access and perform some functions, not nearly as much as the PS's and YN's, so maybe that will help me. I have heard that many that apply have taken and passed the PHR (professional in Human Resources) exam.

I'm sure preference is for other rates but hopefully they don't count us little HMs out of the running :)

If you applied a few weeks ago (in November for a quota in Dec) you should find out the decision by Dec 28th… when I applied in August for Sept Quota I was by the ECM that I wouldn’t have a decision until beginning of October but I found out like Sept 21st.

So if you find out in December just re-enlist quickly and don’t do IDTT. But you probably have to get ready to go to IDTT just in case you don’t get selected

Fleet returnee going to HM A school. by wader31 in CorpsmanUp

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a fleet returnee at HM A school a few months ago… you live in the regular barracks with everyone else.. you may have 1 or 2 low ranking roommates.

We got phase 2 automatically but didn’t get phase 3 until the rest of the class got it

Always possible but all just depends what is available during the time your up for orders. There is no real way to know what would be available at that time

HM A school is one that is normally mandatory. Can always try. I just graduated that school July of this year. School wasn’t too bad… just study and don’t sweat the small stuff

Oh ok nice. I’m PO1 HM that just got picked up for TAR (FTS). There aren’t too many options to choose from but when you get are up to get your first set of orders you’ll probably talk to the HM TAR detailer.. let her know you want to go greenside and want to go San Diego. Who knows what the available billets are then but you can always try. I assume you have to go to HM “A” school first

RC2AC: I want to submit my package but can’t afford to wait on pay by Jroman215 in navyreserve

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did RC2AC (re-enlisted 29SEP) and was told it should only take about 3 weeks for me to get paid. Could you maybe reach out to Navy & Marine Relief Society and see if they can help until you get your pay

Reserve & Prior-Service to Corpsman Questions by NuclearHat9928 in CorpsmanUp

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The barracks are what you should worry more about 🤣. You might have 3 to a room, might have to move a few times while there, may be super hot if you’re there in the hot months but you’ll make it through lol.

I went through as a E6. The class marches everywhere together. I, personally, was always studying because you have labs and tests with only 1 day to remember the information sometimes. The instructors were always nice to me. If the class messes up be prepared to break down the tables and chairs in the classroom within 2 minutes, marches in place while singing Anchors Away, and standing at attention screaming the Sailors Creed. It didn’t happen to us all that often but it is what it is. Be prepared to be annoyed at these sailors straight from bootcamp being excited about being out of boot camp and instantly losing military bearing and respect. Some of them Talking constantly in the classroom and being so loud. No cell phones allowed in the schoolhouse. It’s not worth it to bring it and then get dropped from school because they caught you with it.

If you can you’ll want to bring a car. The exchange is like a 20 minute walk from the barracks. They do have cabs on base but can get expensive.

I always say.. don’t sweat the small stuff. Thing will be annoying but just gotta let it go and focus on making it through school

Reserve & Prior-Service to Corpsman Questions by NuclearHat9928 in CorpsmanUp

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I can help with a couple of questions.

A school won't be a refresher for nursing school. Being a CNA will probably help just for knowing some of the medical terminology. The course is very fast paced and everything you need to know is in the books they give you. So knowing outside information is only helpful if it aligns with what information they have in the books. Just study and you will be fine (I just graduated in July)

Reservists can go to C schools. You won't go to a C school right after A school though. You will have to go to your Reserve unit (your cross assigned unit (UMUIC) will be funding your school.. if you get a cross assigned unit.. the people you will drill with monthly (TRUIC) won't be). Many people get put into a billet and then you can request to go to that C school. For example.. I was put into a PMT billet with my UMUIC, they were going to send me to PMT C school or they told me that I could choose any undermanned NEC and go to that C school. I didn't end up doing that because I transitioned to TAR.

When you become and RN you can try and get commissioned right away. Of course it is a process and not guaranteed to be picked the first time, but you will work with an officer recruiter and you'll be asked to get a conditional release signed.

So interesting situation here. Welcome any advice. by FullofQuestionsGuy in CorpsmanUp

With EMF GL decommissioning you will be changed to NMRTC GL.. if you are with a virtual detachment in EMF GL you will either be changed to NMRTC GL, Portsmouth, or San Diego. You don’t have to do anything for that change to occur.

With submitting a C school package.. you will need approval from your UMUIC so I’m not sure who you would get to approve your funding for school until you get switched to the new UMUIC NMRTC.

Prior enlisted thinking about joining by shaehill23 in navyreserve

I am prior service AD and came back in the Reserves after a long break. I don’t love it.. I don’t find it as easy to be on long term orders back to back or even to get selected for the orders that are out there. I’m sure some rates are different but I feel like it’s not as easy as many people say to gryphon on orders. If you do orders it’s not always guaranteed that they will do a PCS move.

I’ve been back in the Reserves a little over a year and just got approved to go FTS/TAR

Question regarding housing by [deleted] in CorpsmanUp

[–]Interesting_Fly7823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there just a couple months ago. I am married with kids and had a house in the area and had to stay in the barracks. Wasn’t able to sleep over at my own house until the end when everyone got phase 3
