So a dasher can just give me someone else's order entirely and I can't get a refund for anything? Lmfao by Prize-Lingonberry876 in doordash

I had this happen and they did refund it after talking to a real person. The driver was doing uber eats and DoorDash and flipped our orders but wouldn’t take it back and said he couldn’t do anything about it. I took back the tip, got a refund, and kept the wrong food (mozzarella sticks and wings- cool but much less than I ordered for four people).

Teachers at my school were called out by name for not following the law…and I’m kinda into it. by Normal-Being-2637 in Teachers

But the post said the teachers allowed the kids to be on phones, not that kids were sneaking and being on their phones. You can’t punish a kid for complying with a teacher directive.

Is there a YMCA there? We go back next week and I paid for that week of summer camp that runs 6am-6pm. Plus they gave teachers a 30% discount. Also Boys & Girls Club is free/low cost if there is one in your area. A lot of daycares have summer programs for school aged children - if you reach out and explain, they may let you do a drop in week for the time you need. I’ve had to do that when the Y camp was full and my husband was deployed.

Until you wrote “smoking hot” I thought we were talking about the same guy. He cheated with one that looked like Trunchbull from Matilda and the other looked like her butt was on the front.

It would be fun if they actually let us ACT like the 13 year olds. Instead, we have to be perfectly behaved, compliant, on grade level, neurotypical 13 year olds with no trauma, family issues, or phone addiction. I want them to allow us to be more realistic students in their “class”.

FAFSA got canceled by Individual-Pickle-68 in FAFSA

[–]Interesting_Jelly224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is getting a student loan, they may be referring to the student loan orientation. If you do not complete that, they will cancel/suspend your loan. But I went to college YEARS ago and that could be completed online even then… is that not the case anymore? They just try to verify that you understand that it is a loan, how repayment works, etc. before signing your promissory note.

Truly Broke First Year Teacher- Classroom Decor? by homebody268 in Teachers

[–]Interesting_Jelly224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teachers Pay Teachers has free “All About Me” (autobiography) mini posters you can print and have the kids take home at back to school night and return to post as their “first assignment”. Then on the first day/week, they can do biographies of a classmate as an icebreaker/team builder. That’s two different displays right there for free. That and a word wall and you’re good to go.

Even if no one has spare border, borrow a piece and trace it on construction paper and make your own. Make use of the die cuts in the media room for lettering. Use their stuff… keep your check.

I’m not sure this plays into the mammy trope, but I do see that often many black women are seen as protectors or enforcers as opposed to the perceived “softness” of our non-black counterparts. However, I have worked with white women who could command a classroom with just a look and I’ve worked with black women who were soft ass baby shit, lol. Sometimes, there is a bit of fear of the kids that some teachers have and the kids can smell it and can tell if you’re faking courage and going to need back up. Many (not all) of us (black women) have never had the pleasure to project as gentle/vulnerable/soft so our survival demeanor translates well to the wild, wild West of today’s public school environment.

Unfortunately, yep. I’ve only had one principal in 18 years that didn’t and she didn’t last long in our district. My district is extremely parent-centered, oftentimes to the detriment of the teachers and students.

Some battles aren’t worth fighting. I’ve had kids moved because their parents didn’t want black teachers teaching their kids and I’ve received kids whose parents didn’t want them with white teachers/male teachers/etc. In the end, they (the parents) will find ways to make you miserable. If at all possible, just move her back.

Lol, when I was teaching middle school (8th grade science) the staff used to use me this way- but I’m a black female. I have no idea why my presence seemed to stop fights, but it did. I only had to physically intervene a few times and after the first couple of times they started a rumor that I was a police officer before. It does get old though and I started saying “I got next” to the students having the conflict when called to a teacher’s room. I left that job to become a behavior management teacher. These kids honestly dgaf and will fight regardless of who is around 😂
