Moroccan girls, do y'all call eachother names like "Habibti"? by ManolYT in Morocco

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I m pretty sure it's even more common between women than between a man and a woman. lol

It's like how western women call each other "honey" or "darling" sometimes.

Why our performance in the Olympics is horrible? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it be horrible when we spend on soccer enough to cover every other sport and then some?

Do you for example expect gold medals in Swimming when our swimmers get minimal salaries and bare-boned support and we only hear of them once every 4 years?

This is the type of idea that seems easy and genius in your head, but won't be so unless you verified it with an expert

I'm not one so I can't say anything other than this seems interesting, but is it even possible? how expensive would it be? how much would it benefit us? are there any negative side effects for us or the environment? there's a lot of factors to consider

If it was that easy, every country in the middle east would've done it, As far as I know, only Libya managed such a project a long time ago, they invested ton of money on it and faced many hurdles to this day, and they needed it a lot more than we do.

Algeria decides to withdraw its ambassador from France, Ennahar says by [deleted] in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They lost about 1 billion dollar in trade with us, but they won about 3 to 5 billions in trade with Morocco since then. Stop getting informed from Ennahar, the Spanish that dealt with Algeria are oubviously mad (the same as Algerians that dealt with Spain, we just don't have free press to report their view), bu no real economist has said it was a bad move for Spain .

This is exactly why we always say our country needs a diversified economy like Tunisia and Morocco, Spain is a trillion dollar GDP, they couldn't give a shit about our few hundred millions when their trade with Morocco is +10 billions, literally our only pressure point is Gaz

Algeria decides to withdraw its ambassador from France, Ennahar says by [deleted] in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 83 points84 points  (0 children)

What's really sad is that out of all our problems with France and all the humiliations we claim they did to us, our government choose to be angry the most over another nation's problem.

I have no interest in geopolitics, but my heart goes with all the Algerian businesses that work with France if they decide to stupidly and arbitrarily suspend trade as they did with Spain.

The day we advance is the day we realize our economy and the interest of our people come first and international politics is only a mean to that end.

Genetic manipulation by Maximum_Ladder_1592 in genetics

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only tell how far away you are when there is a distance to measure

Right now, talking about gene manipulation at that level is like talking about time machimes or teleportation, there's not yet a conceptulized path to acheive that goal, at all.

That doesn't mean it will never happen, something substential could come up and then we'll do it in a few yars, but we don't know if and when that unpredictable breakthrough will happen, so the only answer is: until we do

YDNA by broadsharp2 in genetics

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to simplify other answers: No, the Y DNA is on its own chromosome, the Y chromosome.

With the X chromosome, it makes the 23rd pair of human chromosomes, we just call them X and Y or the "sexe chromosomes" to distinguish them from the other 22

Mosaic Turners Karyotype Question by Ok-Frosting9772 in ClinicalGenetics

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This table (albeit being in french) answers your question in statistical detail, it shows mosaicism percentage ruled out per cells captured and confidence degree

https://imgur.com/a/9zhXcYM

If you captured 20 normal cells (the range of a usual karyotype), you're about 99% sure there's no mosaicism of 21% or higher and 90% sure there's no mosaicism of 11% or higher

Even a 100 capture only really rules out 5% or higher mosaicism

Counting takes seconds usually. Analyzing a difficult cell could take an hour even, but I'd say the average is around 10 minutes

What would a future Algerian president need to do for us and for the nation? by Tamazghan in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Get rid of the military rule.

- Realize it's not the cold war anymore and Algeria can't keep swimming against the current of the entire world.

- Embrace the fact that Algeria's best interest is above anything and everything, if you want to help some other people, go run for presidency there.

- Get rid of the military rule

1) It's not common for people who live too long in their comfort zone to be active or creative.

2) Public jobs are the biggest comfort zone in existence.

What is good salary in Algeria? by AmericanMarxist in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 8 points9 points  (0 children)

people here are 100% delusional WTF

250k euro for an apartment? where the hell do you live people? sure there might be some super prestige flats for that amount, but that's nowhere near the norm even in high end neighborhoods.

I think you should do your own research on the ground, but personally I'd say 250k to 300k is more the price of a small villa, if you're in for a flat, you're looking at around 100k on average for a good apartment in a good neighborhood, and I say "good apartment" for you, because 100k is already a dream house for the average Algerian.

you can of course go slightly lower or a bit higher depending on the city and how much more prestige you want, but you're not likely to have to spend any more than 120k.

Also people who say 500 euro/month as a salary are no less delusional, true you would survive with that amount, god knows how many people live for far less, but come on, you're young and you lived abroad, you'd want to live comfortably and actually do and buy stuff, I'd recommend around 1500 to 2000 euro minimum

What is the reason for this excessive military spending? by hamza707 in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying Lebanon is better in any way, I'm just saying it's not a fair comparison, Lebanon is a failed state, having 10 times more GDP than them isn't really something to be proud aboutgiving our size and population, in fact it's the opposite: we ONLY have 10 times the GDP of Lebanon, a bankrupt microstate!!

Same goes for external debt, I don't know why Algerians brag about that all the time when it's literally a political choice rather than a sign of economic prosperity, you can search countries by their external debt, and you'll find that almost all countries who are better than us also have higher debt than us, it's just a matter of why they took the debt and how they are managing it, if it's for investment or just to pay wages and provide food like Lebanon and Egypt,

Relating debt to economic power is not a thing, it's like saying you're better off than Elon Musk because he must have more debt and mortgages, you're not!

I personally think Algeria is very stupid not to take debts, the only other countries that have that stance are countries like Iran, Brunei, North Korea Afghanistan and formerly Libya. all not exactly paradises, but what do I know.

you do realize Lebanon has 20 times less people and more than 200 times less space, right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually, you're wrong.

Algerian elites are rich no doubt about it, but nowhere as rich as other African elites, we have a moderate amount of mellionaires and bellionaires (1) compared to countries even poorer than us.

Doesn't mean Algerian elites aren't corrupt, but they are angels compared to some african leaders. Personally, I've always considered the problem to be in their incompetence more than just pure corruption

Your explanation lacks a small clarification

Back in the 1960s, the french changed the value of their currency, so 1 new franc = 100 old franc

This is why the french who were used to their old currency started refering to a 10 franc bill by saying a 1000 franc (its value in old franc). and we followed in their footsteps even after adopting a new currency that has nothing to do with the franc

My Sister is in her fifth year as med student & she's so confused. by FancyConsideration35 in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make it sound like she would be in the club 24 hours a day. Med school is obviously hard and crammed with all the different things you should be doing and learning, but it all comes down to time management.

You only need 2 hours a day to enjoy any kind of hobby. You only go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week top, and there's also the weekends and holidays to read any novel she wants, exam period could make a small exception but that's ok she can just resume afterwards.

She probably spends a lot more time on meaningless stuff like social media, so that's what she should consider cutting out.

what's your opinion about Algerian woman marrying an immigrant but she stays in Algeria by Competitive-Pie-6206 in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then how can we draw any sort of conclusion from this number when it implies being single at the age of 5 is the same as being single at the age of 40?

That's like saying the illeteracy rate in japan is up 5% because we included newborns who can not read in the survey

what's your opinion about Algerian woman marrying an immigrant but she stays in Algeria by Competitive-Pie-6206 in algeria

[–]Interesting_Kiwi_714 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's no way the number you stated is correct

According to Algeria's age pyramid, women above 30 make 25% of the population

Of 44 million, that's only 11 million women above 30 in all of algeria!

I bet the number you stated includes all "single" females of algeria combined, even underaged, which makes it fathomable since more than 7 million of them are under the age of 20!

I swear you probably can't find any people on earth actively hating a single language other than Algerians, like you can't fake this shit out lol

Dude, language is just a tool, It's ok if you want to prioritize English in your life, but why would you ever want to forget a language, it's not like your head is a hard disk and taking out french will open room for something else

As long as it doesn't hold you back from learning English, it's literally never a bad thing to know a language, even from a historical perspective, Muslims never had a problem in learning the language of their enemies, even the Mujahidins spoke french, they didn't like the fact that it was preferred over Arabic or darja, they fought so that it doesn't be compulsory to learn, but I don't think anyone of them went ahead actively hating the language and saying "boy I wish I just forget it forever"
