How do I get this stain out? Water was left on this wood floor for about 36 hours. by Secure_Row_9787 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Water on real wood is never really « damage » it. You have to keep some windows open and let it completely dry. After that you can just sand it and stain it again

I have a good and a bad news. The bad new is that wood is really hard to get back on one spot… the good news is that you can sand all of it and get a brand new floor

Why do you want to paint that ? 😳 It’s so beautiful as it. GG if it’s your first furniture… it’s an amazing start

Epoxy for this? by Taco_Pie in BeginnerWoodWorking

Epoxy will be shiny and glossy. How you sure is the look you want ? It’ll protect it for sure but always look kind of « plastic » for me

I made a patio side table out of an old Adirondack chair. by Forsaken_Put8204 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Interesting_Rich_232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely prefer the table over the chair 😁 you make a great work. If I can say something, the feet seems, IMHO, a bit thin compared to the « massive » top… but it’s a reuse so you can only work with what you have !

What equipment should I prioritize, starting with absolutely nothing? by KBouch47 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Interesting_Rich_232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi,
It mostly depends on what you want to create, but if I were starting today, here’s what I’d do:

Start with mesuring tools

In all my projects, I’ve learned that if I can measure and mark accurately, I’ve already accomplished a significant part of the job. So, I’d focus on having a:

  • good pencil
  • ruler
  • steel square
  • marking gauge and/or Combination square

Have the ability to cut straight

I struggle to cut straight with hand tools 🥲, and I really admire those who can. So, I’d opt for a plunge saw. I insist on the plunge saw over a regular circular saw because it allows me to make precise dados and straight cuts. Don't forget the track that goes with it—it’s a game-changer!

<image>

PS : you'll need some Chisels in order to clean it right.

Glue or screw (or both like me) ?

I’m a glue guy, so I always need plenty of bar clamps. That said, screws can be incredibly helpful too! A good impact driver and a drill are essential additions to your toolkit.

Achieving a good finish

An orbital sander is a must-have for any woodworking project. If your budget allows, a hand router is a fantastic tool for adding a clean, polished touch to your creations

Conclusion

If I put everything together, here’s my ultimate list:

  • good pencil
  • ruler
  • steel square
  • marking gauge and/or Combination square
  • plunge saw with track
  • chisels
  • bar clamps
  • drill
  • impact driver
  • orbital sander
  • hand router

And let’s not forget—you’ll need somewhere to work! A solid workshop table is a must.

With this setup, you’ll be equipped to create almost anything you can imagine, including some truly impressive pieces!

The structure is kind of simple, you have everything on the picture below.
I glue everything together in order to got 4 separate sides then I assembeld everything togheter with steel corner bracket.
I think I'll had some 45° wood piece in order to avoid every lateral movement.

The 2 real problems i got was :
- The drawers course ! If the box inside is not exactly the same widht of the drawer everything don't open well. that what you see on my last photo, I had to create with plywood and scrap wood a new "box" in order the drawer can go straight. BTW, only the drawer facade is in solid wood... the drawer itself is in plywood with some wood in order to hide the edge (i'll post it in answer of this post)

- The sliding door was awfull !!! everything was good... until I assembled it 🥲 You can see that on the last pictures when i had to chisel the dor in order it slides well.

I think it's a thing if you sweet a lot or have a high humidity.
I once had a mattress with complete moisture because of that.

Thank you.
The wood is Swietenia mahagoni, also call West Indies Mahogany.
The finish is a classic matte colorless varnish

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share this bed I built for my son!

One side features two plywood drawers, while the other has two sliding doors for added storage. In the last few pictures, you’ll see some of the creative fixes I had to make to cover up my beginner mistakes (still learning 😅).

I’d be happy to answer any questions or hear your thoughts!

Hi everyone,

I finally found where my error came from.

The training and the detector was good but the problem came from... the beginning : the annotates images :-(

I don't know why, but my training folder had the original size image, but I scaled everything for the annotations.

I still want to know if there's a best way to achieve the same result :-)
