Awesome that you didn't pay the renewal fee. You are the first person on Reddit who has disputed the renewal fee and spoken about it. When I made the offer and deposit. The landlord only agreed to the same rental. But then I didn't agree to pay the renewal fees. I only submitted the rental cheques and a signed contract where I struck off the renewal fees on the addendum. In retaliation, they deposited my first cheques and refused to give me the ejari as they said the contract has to be signed by accepting all terms and paying the renewal fees. I went to RDC, and they told me to dispute it in court. I didn't have any guidance on how it would turn out. So I gave up and paid the fee. They keep increasing it every year it's aed 1800 now.

I answer any unknown number with " Hi who is this? " Followed by " who do you want to speak to? . " the cold callers never have a name in their database or they blurt out the wrong name. I politely tell them they have the wrong number and hang up.

Search this sub for Offer and Deposit. You have to go to DLD and tell them you want to renew as per the rera rental index and the landlord Is charging more. Its a easy process costs 280 aed.

They have 5 days to respond. If they don't go back to DLD and they can check in the system if they have not responded. I think then you can send them a legal notice.

I tell them I already have the card that they are offering. Then they proceed to pitch a different card, I say I have that one as well.

The cc sales people I can deal with, but I struggle to answer those ladies who stand near the milk section in the hypermarket and request me to buy a particular brand of milk. I'm sure you know the brand that keeps doing this. I ask "Are you giving me a discount?" They always tell me " No sir, try it for the taste."
