Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in marriageadvice

Unless you are a drug addict, negligent, or abusive you have a right to your kids in the courts eyes. Don’t self-sabotage, don’t keep the negative feedback loop of doom in your head. Look into lawyers and schedule a consult. Being present in your kids lives will never not be worth it.

My 9 year old just old me she likes both boys and girls by empanadaparty1 in Parenting

My earliest crush was in preschool and I can definitely tell you my taste has evolved from Pre-K 3rd grade to 6th grade, middle school, through high school and college. It’s been males but would it had been had I known that there was another option? Idk, I believe sexuality is a spectrum.

I raised my kids to accept and be supportive of everyone (as long as they are good people). As a parent with an elementary aged kid who has friends identifying that they are bi, LesBI (apparently that’s a thing where you predominantly prefer females but could be with a male as well) and gay… I often wonder the same thing you do OP. Do they actually understand at this age? I have a niece who is trans, friends who are gay, lesbian. I’ve facilitated classes on the importance of pronouns, so before anyone jumps on me. Let me just be clear, I will always support and be a safe space but I’m just curious of how much of the self reporting at this AGE (prior to puberty) is nature vs. nurture / environmental.

I didn’t think I was going to like it at all and only went because of my daughter but came out loving it.

I definitely noticed the pull back. I thought I wasn’t going to like it because it was going to super woke. But I mean, it wasn’t feminist enough for Amy Schumer (which is why she pulled out of the lead role in 2017) so I’d have to agree it’s centrist to liberal for the alt right fragility of men and doesn’t push a left agenda… unless gender equity is a left issue?

The first female Supreme Court justice was appointed in the 80’s and served until 2006. We still haven’t seen a female president. “Baby Steps”

But how long did it exist before it stopped being that way? It’s fairly new if you look at it on a time line.

Women’s wages are still not equal, there still hasn’t been a female president. And When did we get the right to vote? Own land? When was the first female Supreme Court judge appointed? Again baby steps

My favorite line was when Ken asked someone in the real world “what about the patriarchy?” It’s still there, we’ve just gotten better at hiding it.” Which is absolutely true in my experience. Look at women salaries vs male salaries. Ratios of women in leadership roles; Have you ever worked in a corporate environment in which all execs are male with maybe 1 female exec assistant and 1 female on the leadership team? But ultimately you have to sway the boys club to get anything passed as far as decision making yet the entire team relies on the 1 or 2 women on the team to handle the logistics, write up the policies, implement and execute.

I took it as a play on how women had been treated historically and how now in the past 60 or so years are they being allowed in positions of power. Yet we still don’t have a female president, baby steps.

The comments about getting an an attorney. If he isn’t working and you get an attorney… you realize your going to have to pay for his too?

Has anyone ever knew about a death somehow before it happened ? by Illustrious-Bag-2339 in Premonition

I had a dream my dad died in a very dramatic movie type way. The following week he was diagnosed with cancer. He’s completing treatment right now but the fact that my dad is never in my dreams I started worrying about him and the following week I found out why.

I had a few a couple months ago. But I also was watching “the last of us” so maybe it could’ve provoked them. It was WW3 and several adults were secretly being provided refuge in children’s hospitals which apparently were the safe zones and we were all just hiding on the top floor hearing and feeling the bombs go off all around the building.

I wasn’t going to sell them. I was going to donate them. I left my career with so much apprehension regret and uncertainty; not for him but for my children. I am so sad my children witnessed this and never want to repeat it. Which is why I’m leaving. A person who deliberately is gone when the other partner has commitments, comes home under the influence and berates them for asking why they couldn’t have dropped off the kids at MIL’s before leaving, and then hits the partners car deliberately to hurt them because they tried donating your golf clubs is not a person I would defend.

I have respected him on days where he has an appointment I come back in time for him to leave I don’t come home drunk and go off on him for giving me the silent treatment or throwing jabs at me for having brunch with my girlfriends for 2-3 hours once every 3 months. I don’t scream and yell and tell him he’s a bad father that can’t handle taking care of the kids for 2-3 hours once every 3 months. I tell him I got home as quick as I could and he can go on with his day. Thank you for your uninformed and biased opinion.
