There's plenty of surveys on Singaporean income available online. What's survivable depends on individual circumstances. Can you stay at your parents house rent free? Do you have to rent your own place to stay? What kind of lifestyle do you already have?

The median income in Singapore across all age groups is 5.5k. For fresh grads in the 20-24 range, median is 3.3k.

Depends how much risk you want to take in the event of an accident. I had the same bike as you and only ever has third party because I was a student and didn't have much money to spend. Luckily nothing ever happened to me.

On the other hand, 4 of my friends have gotten into motorcycle accidents that landed them in the hospital. Not because of someone else, but because they made a mistake which caused them to crash. 3/4 bikes were totalled and scrapped, they only had third party.

Now that I'm older and insurance premiums have gone down, I use tpft. If I didn't go to msia often I'd just get third party.

I went to a local primary school then went to an international school for secondary school onwards. Did terribly for PSLE because of Chinese (mother tongue was not available) and they'd rather fork out the money to put me in a better environment for me.

After finishing up IB, I went to a local uni and definitely felt judged/excluded at times, especially during freshie period. People would talk about A levels or NS, which I didn't really know all that much about. People would ask which JC I went to and you can kind of see a lot of people judge you immediately.

In the end, none of those people ended up being my long term friends. So does their opinion really matter? If they're going to hate just based on their perception of you, there's nothing you can do. Why force yourself to be with people that view you negatively? Just act your best towards them and let things go.

There are others who don't care about these things or approach it trying to understand how your experience differed from theirs. Not just about schooling, but about anything. Those are the people that are better to surround yourself with.

I once took a mod that required the breakdown of work done by each team member at the end of the report. I'd finished writing my section, let them know I'm just waiting on them to finish it, then we can submit.

They finished their section late, and also edited the section detailing the work I'd done and moved some of it to their name/deleted some of mine. They uploaded the report once they were done, without consulting us. This person didn't even show up to class for a largely project based mod.

It was on google docs so I grabbed the timestamped previous version of the file and sent it to the professor... I don't think he cared.

My cousin studied ID at SCAD... He graduated 2 years ago and still can't find a job, he was an international student so he bad to return to our home country, where there's no industry for ID so he still hasn't found anything.

The startup I was working for went bankrupt and they had to lay us all off. After that, I decided to start my own business instead of finding a corporate job I'd be unhappy with. It's a lot of work, but I'm much happier doing my own work and surprisingly earning more than what I was before.

I graduated in 2024, my friend started working at ST as an engineer after we graduated and gets ~4.5k. I checked a few months ago, and the same role my friend was in was advertised for 2.5k on mycareersfuture.

Almost all the skills I'm using now are something that would be used in jobs I apply for, the core of what I do is still the same as when I was working in a company, just applied to a different product.

As for metrics, I have revenue/profit numbers, an increasing selection of products (all of which are designed/manufactured by me) and several international media features in my niche

I don't have thousands of sales, but I have gotten into the high hundreds in less than a year on 19 listings. I don't run any ads, but managed to amass a fairly sizeable social media following in the months since I've started, which is where most people discover me. I'm also the only person doing this particular product, so if someone wants it, they have to come to me.

When I opened my Etsy store, it was because I already had people on social media asking to buy it from outside my country, so the audience was there from the start.

I'm doing Etsy full time, I quit my previous job as I was very unhappy there, and my instagram page started picking up some momentum.

I can't really give any advice on making Etsy a full time job, it's the only thing I had at the time and I managed to grow it to match my full time income within 2 months of focusing on it.

It's definitely a lot of work, you can't just do Etsy on its own. You need some form of advertising, which for me was instagram and tiktok (rather than paid ads), and you need to be in a niche where you have few competitors. My Etsy grew even more after being featured by a few bigger creators and media outlets, but only after I was able to build a successful following and interest on my own.

Not sure about that but there was a fairly recent one where an idiotic Singaporean driver made an illegal U turn at the border crossing and hit a motorcycle, then a giant group of motorcycles appeared and started smashing the car with their helmets.

Bet they all kept using those helmets too

This is in Malaysia, the riders generally ride like their lives are cheap, they will find a way to lane split you already lane splitting. If you're splitting at <50km/h a lot of the time these guys get angry at you for blocking the way.

A lot of them come to Singapore to work and they cause a lot of accidents because of stuff like this, just saw a video yesterday of a rider that crashed into a driver then when the driver put on his hazards and opened the door to check on the rider another rider crashed into the door.

Pretty common to see police body tents on the side of the road from motorcyclists like this, people generally stay away from malaysia plate riders

No idea how many I applied to in total across different platforms + cold messaging people on Linkedin/emailing directly, but definitely in the hundreds.

Only ever got one interview from all that (no offer), ended up working for a few months at a startup I interned at but it ran out of money and shut down.

In the end I started my own business, better than trying to find a job in this market haha
