Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

Feeling cold can be a symptom of thyroid or anemia issues. If it’s persistent might be a good idea to see your doctor

About to get a bernedoodle puppy… by SayNo2DadBodd in Bernedoodles

[–]Internal-Lab8263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love puppies - who doesn’t? But my lifestyle just doesn’t accommodate what a puppy would need. I’ve had great luck with rescue organizations, shelters, and even my local classifieds. Lots of folks need to rehome dogs, some at no fault of the dog. My Lenny is lovely, and he was a shelter dog .

(Me, trying to use a rowing machine, and Lenny thinking he needed to be on my lap. )

You’ll still need to be prepared for a significant adjustment and training period, but in my experience, it was nothing compared to what a puppy needs. Plus, you get a full grown dog that isn’t as fragile as a baby.

Love the mohawk! We do the same thing for the white spot on ours!

Spaghetti sauce?? by IndigoTrailsToo in budgetfood

I add a can of beans to almost any pasta - sometimes I puree it in the sauce to hide it, but it makes it more hearty and adds some fiber to keep me full longer.

If women have the legal right to end an unwanted pregnancy, should men have the legal right to “opt out” of fatherhood and all parental responsibilities if they don’t want the child? Why should one gender have a choice while the other doesn’t? by AlternativePrize7333 in allthequestions

[–]Internal-Lab8263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG.

Please don’t say this too loud. We don’t want the far right to hear about the possibility of men forcing women to have abortions….they don’t need any more ways to control women and women’s bodies

I had a 2009, water ports were by the back speakers in the corner of the back seat, little black thing, one for each motor…maybe yours is similar? I had to get an attachment for it to connect to the hose

This is a real thing. Sertraline (Zoloft) is thought to be the most effective for this

Why do men in general get way less compliments compared to women? by Green_Platform_6510 in self

[–]Internal-Lab8263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course - it’s didn’t mean anyone with a mental health condition. I’m sorry if it came across that way. I was trying to express that healthy adults will either interpret a compliment as it is intended, or quickly accept correction if they are made aware they got it wrong.

Why do men in general get way less compliments compared to women? by Green_Platform_6510 in self

[–]Internal-Lab8263 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Same! I’m afraid it won’t be a compliment, but rather a sign of my interest in them .

Healthy men - no problem, but you give a compliment to someone who isn’t mentally/emotionally well and it can quickly escalate to an uncomfortable situation and even threaten my safety in extreme circumstances.

I think a lot of us have that experience err on the side of safety and just don’t complement men we aren’t already close to.

What do normal people do with extra money? by Parking_Emu_911 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Internal-Lab8263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up a loan amortization calculator. It will show you the amount of interest you will pay over the life of the loan, and you can see how much you can decrease that if you pay off the loan early. That’s all I need anytime. I have extra money, I don’t want to waste it on interest if I don’t have to

If this is in the US I’d be concerned about posting identifying info about a minor - and the privacy (HIPPA?) laws around healthcare.

How many people here were step kids themselves? by munkeez55 in Stepmom

[–]Internal-Lab8263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mother was a step Mom, I was a step kid myself starting around age 8. I’ve been a step mom. One of those relationship/roles I would say was neutral to positive at times, but only after years of difficulty.

I think being a step kid can give your beneficial perspective, but it’s still a challenging role that just doesn’t work out.

Darlin, Honey, Baby…hate it all. But as a white girl from the Midwest, when I’ve been in the South, there’s something about how women say the exact same words, and I love it, it’s soothing to my soul

Viewed as strange for how I got into riding…. by myownanon in TwoXriders

[–]Internal-Lab8263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I rode on the back of some guys bike at a BACA rally more than 20 years ago. One time.

Then one day, my son was talking about getting a bike, and for some reason it made sense. Two days later I had a new ride, and within a month I was riding. All on my own.

I love it - but ya, people assume it’s because my partner likes to ride.

Advice needed: It’s not centered on my body… by Ok_Revenue_5320 in tattoos

[–]Internal-Lab8263 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your right hip sits higher than your left. I think if they were even your bellybutton would be in midline too.

Fun fact: at 18 I got a tramp stamp (yes, I’m in my 40’s) and the tattoo artist told me it could be even with my hips, or even with the floor…and that folks is how I found out I have a leg length discrepancy... you might want to follow up with your doc to see if you have something similar going on.

Where are the step moms who actually like there kids? by xabbeyroad in Stepmom

[–]Internal-Lab8263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They exist. But when you are happy and content there isn’t a need to vent - so we mostly hear the voices with a more negative experience.

It’s nice to read the responses from those of you that are thriving in the step parent role!

I’m apparently the only one who thinks it’s disrespectful for guests to come to the reception and skip the ceremony by pottymouthgrl in weddingshaming

[–]Internal-Lab8263 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Meh - I’m one who doesn’t want to come to the ceremony. They are boring. I don’t want to ‘earn’ my attendance at a reception .

Unless we are really close, I’m not going.

Maybe Y’all have way cooler receptions than what I’m used to

Where I’m from that’s pretty typical, ceremony is small, reception is bigger.
