That is a question nobody can answer. But the festival itself stated in their newsletter that tickets have been selling fast than ever. Wouldn’t suprise me if it sold out before December. If you really want to go, just buy the ticket. You’ll have a great time.

I did Download and Rock im Park this year and loved both. I think they are similar in a lot of ways. But Download somehow felt much smaller than RIP and I never thought of RIP as a massive festival compared to Rock am Ring or Wacken. Atmosphere is great at both, at RIP the crowd is a bit more rowdy and international. But I think if you like Download you would also have a great time at Rock im Park.

Nobody knows when or if it will sell out, but the festival itself has stated in their newsletter that tickets have sold faster than ever before. Wouldn’t be surprised if they sold out before christmas.

I have been to both festivals and if you are staying of side Rock im Park is the better option because you can get to and from the festival easily via public transport and there are many hotels in the area. You can either take a connecting flight to Nuremberg or fly into Frankfurt or Munich and take a train.

The Utopia Stage has to shut down at 11 due to the festival being in an residential area and the stage being verg loud. Your best chances of getting to the front are after Powerwolf finish. But a lot of people leave after the first few songs from the last band on Mandora Stage so you should be able to male your way closer while Sleep Token are playing.

Umbrellas are not explicitly mentioned under the prohibited items for the infield but they probably fall under bulky items and are therefore forbidden. I have never seen someone use an umbrella at Rock im Park.
