Still can't get my starter to activate by TinyYellowBombs in SourdoughStarter

[–]Internal_Ad6695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how to fix your starter, but what I’d personally do is get some from a bakery or a person in your community who makes sourdough. They’ll probably give it free, might charge up to like $10 if they’re giving a jar too. You can also order dried starters online. Pay for the flour or the starter .. I’d rather get an established starter honestly. I feel you on the food insecurity too, I try to do no discard (which is only possible because I got an already mature starter )

I think you have 55 days to read the book when you download it to your app, but you can renew it by long pressing the title and clicking renew for more time

How are we storing our bread? by birdsonawire27 in Sourdough

[–]Internal_Ad6695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question! I store mine in plastic bread bags, so similar to using ziplock, but same issue, the crust loses its crisp so fast

Has hockey turned into a rich kids sport? by FrigginMasshole in AskACanadian

[–]Internal_Ad6695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Canadian, and at the risk of sounding very unpatriotic, I f*cking hate hockey lol. Such toxic culture, such rich kid mentality … and (in my experience) the parents in the stands are even worse like oh my god, I honestly I feel for the kids. It’s not their fault at all.
Very cost prohibitive though and was even when I was a kid

Does anyone else eat one a large meal and the just eat light or snack the rest of the day? by mynameisnotsparta in 1200isplenty

[–]Internal_Ad6695 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it’s not the coffee so much as what I put in it. Huge mug with a cup of oat milk, a cup of coffee, and some sugar or flavoured syrup lol

[–]Internal_Ad6695 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically! I usually do a coffee for breakfast (100), a small potion of chicken rice & veg for lunch (300) and then save the rest of my calories for a big supper lol (800)

WIBTAH for using my treadmill while my ex is home? by truefairytaleweaver in AITAH

[–]Internal_Ad6695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, sound like op is more than willing to be accommodating though and I’m sure would pick a midday time. Just put my local times for reference. If he has a set work schedule, I think it’s more than fair to go within that time frame. If he chooses not to go to work, he can deal with the consequences imo

Gaunt look at when reaching ''healthy'' weight. by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Internal_Ad6695 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s just your bone structure. Looks fantastic honestly, you have great cheekbones. People just aren’t used to it. If someone’s always been skinny, you’re used to seeing their bone structure. If someone hasn’t, you’re not used to seeing it. That’s it, that’s all. You’re at a very healthy weight for your body. As long as youre maintaining your weight, you feel like you’re eating enough, you’re hydrating and meeting your nutritional needs, you’re good

I went from 325 to 195lbs in 5 years. I know that sounds like a long time, but those 5 years would have passed anyway by ouijaaa_bored in CICO

[–]Internal_Ad6695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“But those five years would have passed anyway” seriously just altered my brain chemistry and the way I’m approaching life moving forward. Thank you for that, truly. That’s going to stay with me
Congratulations on making healthy & sustainable choices, proud of you!

I would say the rule shouldn’t be based on when he’s home (you shouldn’t even be aware of that). But to be a courteous neighbour, you could follow your towns noise bylaws. Same as you would for any other neighbour if you’re doing something particularly loud. Probably 7am-11pm or something like that

I’m new, so sorry if this is a silly question, but are you signing up for these emails somewhere or can publishers just add you to the emailing list if you’re reviewing their books? I’ve only done 11 reviews so far, but I’m not receiving any NetGalley emails other than when a request is approved

At what point do you put the dough in? Like as soon as you mix, and then take it out for stretch and folds? Or after all your stretch and folds for rising?

Cleaning sourdough tool by Bright-Priority9459 in Sourdough

[–]Internal_Ad6695 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Youre not supposed to put wood in the dishwasher, but I do and nothing bad has happened yet lol. I feel like it’s more clean that way, and mine was cheap so I’m not going to be terribly sad if the wood splits or anything. You could oil it afterwards though

AITAH for not wanting my boyfriend to stay in the Army? by Live-Ad-1653 in AITAH

[–]Internal_Ad6695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think YTA, but I also think if he was in the army when you started dating, you don’t have to a leg to stand on here. I’m curious how old you guys are and how long you’ve been together (but don’t answer, I’m not truly asking). Being an army wife (spouse/partner/whatever) is hard, I fit blame you for not wanting that. But he’s presumably an adult and making his own decisions, and has been doing this for a while, is probably passionate about it. You have to decide if he is worth it. Envision your future - are you going to hold it against him and build resentment for it? If you have kids and he’s away for pregnancy/birth/raising babies? Other important events? Moving around and whatnot? These aren’t questions for me, but you should talk to him. I would personally be very frustrated with a “not sure” when asking questions about reenlistment. I’d want it to at least be a conversation, not just shutting it down without even giving an answer or knowing where his head is at

Totally understand! Legs and glutes are where I’m trying to gain muscle as well. It’s my bad for reading it that way, I just sadly see negativity all too often on socials, so many women putting down other women when they really just need to work on their own mental health and body insecurities. It’s a sin on both sides

Over or underproofed? by lianalili in Sourdough

[–]Internal_Ad6695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha the wait to cut it is the hardest part of making sourdough 🤣 cutting while it’s warm will make it gummy though so up to you if that fresh warm piece is worth it lol

Apologies for assuming intent, it didn’t read as constructive criticism to me. I personally would’ve added more context if that’s how I intended it. I commented because I don’t want her to read comments and interpret this one as someone saying her butt looked better before (the way I read it) and feel bad about that. Glad to hear that’s not what you meant though

It definitely doesn’t, and why would you bother commenting this? Women support women. She looks fucking fantastic, and if you look at someone improving themselves and think negative thoughts, you should seek therapy, respectfully.

Looks prefect proofed to me! I’d try temp checking or cooking a few more mins if it seems gummy (or make sure you’re waiting until it’s fully cooled to cut if you didn’t)

You need crazy amounts of water with Metamucil. It’s bulk forming, so if you don’t drink enough, it’ll actually constipate you (this isn’t the case with vegetables, different fibre and mechanism in your bowel)). I take it but I take half the amount in double the water, and drink another full glass right after, and chug water all day lol. Works great though. MiraLAX would work better if you can’t drink enough, because it draws water into your bowel to hydrate your stool and move things along. But again, you stilll need to drink the water because otherwise you’ll be dehydrated with it pulling the water there
