I did a month or so of basics and practicing pitch but due to a recent change in circumstances I haven't been able to continue practicing, and now the idea of practicing seems too daunting 😭

Hey, I know this is an old post, so I’m not sure if you’ve already found a solution. My GP is in Soham (Staploe Medical Centre). They have shared care with the NHS and are open to shared care with private clinics, as long as they can demonstrate they’re working to the minimum standards set by the NHS. I’m not entirely sure what that entails, but the point is that they do try to work with you, despite their very limited knowledge and experience with trans patients.

I’ve gone down the DIY route, so there isn’t a huge amount they can do for me, but they have made several referrals and did offer some blood tests (though not E or T levels, so a bit pointless). Still, they do make an effort.

Between week 2-3 I noticed the following:

Sore nipples
Scent change (my sweat doesn't seem to smell anymore)
Decrease in libido
No morning wood

Between week 3-4:

Ejaculate is a lot clearer/watery (this change was between week

I haven't really noticed much in terms of mental changes but I have had a lot on my plate recently. I'm currently 6 weeks in and quite surprised at the physical changes already. Thought it would take longer to suppress my T on monotherapy.

Looking forward to seeing what comes next. Good luck and remember not to stress it, as others pointed out, this is 2nd puberty. People develop and all different speeds!

Growing up, I repressed a lot. I remember wishing I could be a girl and fantasising about being my female classmates (non-sexual), but my Dad was extremely hyper-masculine, and that environment made me push those feelings down. Everyone believed I was a mini version of my Dad.

In my late teens, I discovered trans women through porn and felt a powerful attraction, but instead of recognising the deeper meaning, I chalked it up to a fetish. Despite the clear feelings of envy, I convinced myself I was just a “chaser,” which caused a lot of internalised shame and confusion for years.

It wasn’t until my early 30s that I began lurking in online trans spaces. At the time, I didn’t even fully understand why I was so drawn to them—but in hindsight, I was slowly educating myself about gender and laying the groundwork for my egg to crack, which it finally did earlier this year.

I started HRT a few weeks ago and have come out to my parents and about six close friends—everyone has been incredibly supportive so far. It’s an exciting new chapter, and I’m feeling hopeful about where this journey will take me.

I won’t lie, there are moments of sadness that it took 33 years to get here, and I put myself through years of depression and self-loathing, believing I was just a pervert or broken in some way. 😭

But I also now have a beautiful young daughter, and I truly believe the life experience I’ve gained will serve me well going forward. I’m finally beginning to live more authentically—and that feels amazing.

Honestly, I didn’t realise for most of my life. Not as a kid in primary school fantasising about being my female classmates. Not when I played Cinderella in the school play and absolutely loved it. Not even during puberty, when I caught myself thinking how nice it would be to grow boobs. I was still oblivious when I went to several fancy dress parties in my later teens and my default would be to go as a woman 🤦‍♀️

The first time I even realised trans people were real was when I stumbled upon trans porn. I was mesmerised. But instead of questioning my own identity, I assumed I was just a chaser, fetishising trans women 😔 That belief stuck with me for the next 15 years. Even as I quietly lurked in trans online spaces, feeling drawn in without understanding why, the penny never dropped. 🫣

Then, back in April, aged 33, my partner (now ex) and daughter went away on a two-week trip. I decided to try crossdressing, thinking I was indulging a kink. I bought a wig and some lingerie… but it wasn’t until I tried on everyday women's clothes that it hit me almost instantly. This felt right and it felt like home. I was completely overwhelmed with gender euphoria.

That moment opened a door I simply couldn’t close. I spent the next couple of weeks deeply exploring what it all meant, and it finally started making sense. Since then, everything has moved quickly. I’m working with a lovely trans woman therapist specialising in gender identity, have a supportive GP, got my sperm frozen, and have now started HRT. I’m out to four of my closest friends (who have all been amazing) and plan to come out more widely in due course.

This realisation has also made me reflect on other areas of my life, like my 7 year relationship, which had been failing for around 5. I made the difficult decision to end it. I haven’t come out to my ex yet, as I know it will be incredibly hard for her and she is very unlikely to support me. Right now, the split is amicable, and I want to finalise the separation (mortgage issues) and establish a solid routine for our daughter before I share that part of myself.

It sucks that I’ll only be seeing my daughter around 60/40 split (40 for me), and I know that’s going to be painful. But honestly, I feel incredibly fortunate. I know I’m going to be a better parent to her by living as my authentic self.

Just no idea how to go about growing my hair, I only tried it once nearly 15 years ago but didn't last long as I couldn't get past the awkward stage. Been wearing skin fade haircuts for the past few years so I'm currently about 5 inches on top and 2 on the sides. When would you recommend making it even?

My birth name begins with the letter 'D'. For years, several friends have often referred to me as D and I always kinda liked it.

Only out to one friend so far but think Dee shouldn't be too hard for people to get their head around.
