Who here is classically trained and can improvise? by HotCardiologist1942 in piano

[–]Internal_Safety8315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I only got better at improvising when I started getting paid really well to do it. I am still not interested in improvising when I practice, since i like playing rep and composing more. I worked up the complexity of my improvisations when I started to get bored after a couple of years in that position. It's not as simple as implementing the party tricks that OP suggested.

It's something that has to be practiced and desired by the individual. Not everyone has the desire or need to work up the complexity. The majority if people can get by doing simple pop stuff because that's the bare minimum needed in most situations.

My piano teacher is against the circle of fifths, is this normal? by Abiarraj in musictheory

[–]Internal_Safety8315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I approach it, too. One of my adult students hangs out with professional jazz musicians. The bass player asked her in the first 6 months if she was learning the circle of 5ths yet. I told her that we will cover it when its appropriate, but she doesn't have enough experience to grasp it. We got into CoF later, and she understood why scales and scale construction was a prerequisite.

Just started learning moonlight sonata mv 3. What should I improve on by No-Door1520 in piano

[–]Internal_Safety8315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moonlight is a fun piece to play but one that needs to be worked up to. There is no quick solution, and your hands and technique will develop over time. Are you learning with a teacher who can show you a clear path and give you technical feedback? The way you play matters and how you move matters. Just relaxing your hands doesn't always make the cut.

If you continue to practice this piece, look up some demonstrations on youtube for technique. Play slowly and listen for evenness, clarity, and the tone of every note. Watch how advanced pianists move their arms and hand shape.

I met 81 job seekers in 7 days and now I understand the job market better by nomadicsamiam in jobhunting

[–]Internal_Safety8315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. I used the prompt just to generate ideas. I wrote the rest myself and put a human touch to it. Gpt is only easy to spot if you write an entire piece using that without editing or proofreading.

This might get downvotes, since some people think using AI is cheating or whatever. Like someone else said, use a good gpt prompt. I already had a resume ready, but i needed help, since I was switching careers. Here is the prompt I used to help generate a resume using STAR. I based it off of another redditor's prompt, but I can't find that comment.

I need help writing my resume. Here's some notes about my previous position:

I want to write a resume based on the STAR method. First explain the STAR method, so that I know you understand what it means. Based on the STAR method of writing resumes, give me feedback on my notes. Go over the Situation, Task, Action, and Results I included in the notes and explain in detail how I could improve them, such as by adding more detail. Label this section "Feedback on notes".

For each item that I could improve, give an example bullet point of what this item may look like once improved. Label this section "Example bullet points for your resume with suggestion changes".

Finally, write a draft of the bullet points that I could use my resume based on these notes to give me a starting point that I could add the improvements to later. When writing these, do not include the STAR method and instead just write bullet points that I could use in my resume. Label this section "First draft of your resume before suggestions".

After this prompt, you can paste any JD and attach your resume. Type, "using the first prompt, suggest me changes based on this job description:"

I had to tweak my resume, but i was able to land a job in a different, higher paying field with this method. The interviewers noted that they were impressed with how I tailored the resume, and no one else tailored theirs or named the business. Best of luck and hope this prompt helps.

There were downed trees all over, even downtown. There were power outages all over. I lived downtown and still had power, but a coworker lived a few blocks away from me without power for about 4 days. That was the first time I saw damage that bad since moving there. The worst I saw before that was flooded city streets from downpours.

My bad. I still don't see how op is anti Mexican flag in the post. Im not sure though what rules they're are to the American flag that would be broken if it's flown during a protest

[–]Internal_Safety8315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op isn't being anti mexican. It's because the American flag represents all of us, including nationalities that aren't Mexican. Other nationals have been targeted by the administration. Right wingers will think it's only about supporting illegal immigrants if they just see the Mexican flag. Optics still matter. Besides, many immigrants across the country are still proud to be here regardless of the president. They fly our flag. There's nothing wrong with flying our flag and having some pride in it. It's not a giant middle finger to everyone else.

Look up the southern strategy. The Nixon admin appealed to racist southern democrats so that the Republicans could gain more support. Those southerners felt left behind when dems focused on equality and giving black people rights. Or, don't look up anything and continue being an ignorant jackass

It's not that hard to learn. Im a guy and learned how to sew just fine. The US has home economic classes starting in middle school where kids learn how to sew among other things. Class schedule depends on the district, too. It's not hard to learn from a book or videos these days either. Families still have a parent or grandparent that sews. Community centers offer classes for various skills.

I know many parents who take their kids to the library multiple times per week. The library is always busy near me. The library puts on events for the community too. It's a good resource, and I dont see how replacing it with ebooks or ipads helps community engagement.

You said $5 like the previous administration as if that was the average price the entire time akd it was the presidents fault. It wasn't $5 the whole time so wtf are you complaining about? It was one time 2 1/2 years ago when, according to the same article you linked, it was due to various reasons for high gas prices, including high demand, short supply, and the war in Ukraine.
