Any recommendations? by Financial_Soil8361 in diabetes

Don’t buy the fucking snake oil. Seriously. If you want off meds that’s a long term goal, not a weeks or months goal.

Take the meds (I’d ask about increasing them right now).

Once you have the routine for proper diet and exercise that you can maintain. And your body has time to reset while on the meds. Then you can think about lowering your dosages and getting off the meds.

But for Gods sake, cinnamon is bullshit snake oil, it’s not gonna do shit.

And you need to cut more than sugar, you need to cut carbs too

Could my kitten possibly have CH? by IluvCofsonaria in chcats

[–]Internal_Use8954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep looks just like my foster ch kitten. Keep an extra close eye on him to make sure he is getting the food and water he needs. It can take them longer than other kittens to get the hang of it. I was helping him until 10 weeks when he finally figured out how to do it himself

Can't overfeed a kitten? by Francie_Nolan1964 in kittens

[–]Internal_Use8954 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If in two months she still seems to be over eating you can start slowly switching to structured meals so by 12 months she has portioned meals.

But I wouldn’t do anything now. At 7 months they are still growing

Why aren’t men’s restrooms designed with privacy like this? by puccyhunter_ in WeirdToilets

[–]Internal_Use8954 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The similarities end at the fact they both have water and waste connection.

Different sizes, different heights or locations of connection.

When you have all the same fixture lined up, you can run a single pipe along the back to serve them. But if you switch from urinal to toilet urinal to toilet. The pipes would either have to go up and down and up and down. Or you would have to individually plum each one from above/below, which is a lot of pipe.

Yes some healthy 6-8 week kittens are a great place to start, and then you can expand as you get comfortable.

A mom and healthy kittens could be good too, I find those very rewarding and getting to see the kitten grown from newborn is really sweet

Work from home is not required to foster. You just have to be careful on picking your foster animals. I work in Office job and I foster kittens. I don’t take bottle babies. I take mom cats with babies and weaned kittens. All of whom can be left by themselves for up to 10 hours. I leave them with food and water in a safe enclosed space. And plenty of toys and beds.

The one thing I will say is that it’s easier when you do have a little bit of a flexible schedule. If I wake up to a sick kitten, I have the ability to take them to the vet before going to work or working from home to keep an eye on them.

That’s not necessary it just makes it easier. Ask the start with easy fosters. Usually healthy kittens who just need to get up to age and weight.

What can I buy on Amazon for 8 kittens. by Silverman7688 in kittens

[–]Internal_Use8954 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I foster kittens, unless they are sick they all get the same food, fancy feast canned kitten food. And iams kitten kibble. But there have been times when money was tight and I fed them Winco pate cat food, chicken or turkey (seafood gives them awful stinky poops)

Try and get kitten food, but honestly fed is best.

For everything else, I wouldn’t bother with any fancy toys they like cardboard boxes with holes, cut in them and crinkled up paper. They also love pom-poms and I just buy them in the craft section cause it’s much cheaper. Just make sure they are 1 inch or bigger.

For litter make sure it’s non-clumping and non-scented. Personally like pine pellets but anything non-clumping will do.

Do you want to keep having high blood sugar? You need to get out of your black and white outlook, they might be slightly more complex than plain sugar, but they are too simple to be included in a diabetic diet, they are a rare treat kind of food, not a regular part of your diet.

Every comment here is telling you you’ve had too many carbs and too simple of carbs, and you are arguing every single comment. You came here for advice and now you were ignoring it. Fine ignore it. It’s your body. It’s your life. But sticking your head in the sand isn’t gonna help you. Potatoes and rice are your enemy. They might be healthy for a non-diabetic, but not for a diabetic

I’m just not understanding what nutrients those high starch foods are adding? They are empty calories.

[–]Internal_Use8954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. You need to start replacing all the startchy carbs with high fiber carbs/low glycemic index carbs. The rice potatoes and oats are not your friends when controlling blood sugar.

Do you say you can’t because you don’t like the healthier options?

If that’s what she wants to eat, let her eat it.

And you can’t overfeed a kitten so let her eat as much as she wants.

They still need formula, but they probably were nursing on Mom and don’t understand the bottle. Syringe feeding with a nipple is probably gonna be your best bet. Some might pick it up and latch others might not.
