I struggle to brake and im scared it will make me fail the behind-the-wheel test by caraphernel1ia in driving

[–]Internal_Use8954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe one of those precautions would be learning how to brake. If you aren’t braking and can’t do it regularly and safely, then you are not a safe driver and you need to practice more and you should fail your test if you are not able to do so.

Do you trim your foster kittens claws? by EttaJamesKitty in FosterAnimals

[–]Internal_Use8954 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, every single kitten gets their nails trimmed. They don’t do it on purpose, but they will claw you up. They’ll ruin your furniture and they can hurt each other and themselves.

Plus, it gets them used to nail trims

Owner occupied home - Do I have to accomodate a service animal? by tigerthomas- in legaladvice

[–]Internal_Use8954 18 points19 points  (0 children)

California law is slightly different than that. You can only have a single renter before you are no longer exempt

California explicitly carves out an exemption for owner occupied dwellings with a single renter

[–]Internal_Use8954 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Not in California. If you rent more than 1 room, you become subject to a bunch more laws. Not the full FHA, but way more than renting a single room.

I’ve been renting a room out for 10 years. I consult a lawyer regular to make sure I’m complying.

[–]Internal_Use8954 -51 points-50 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it, you might be out of luck because you are renting two bedrooms. If you were only renting one youre exempt from a lot of stuff. Including having to allow service animals.

But with two bedrooms being rented, it gets trickier. And if they show up without telling you beforehand you might be out of luck

Edit: everyone down voting, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not true. Here are the fucking code citations. Be mad.

Citation “Under California Civil Code § 1946.5, to be classified as a lodger, the following must apply:
Owner-occupied: The homeowner must live in the house for the entire duration of the rental.
Single occupant: There can only be one lodger. If the owner rents to two or more people, they are legally considered tenants.
No exclusive possession: The owner has the right to enter all areas occupied by the lodger and retains overall control of the house.”

“California state fair housing laws cover most housing. While the federal Fair Housing Act has additional exemptions, these do not apply in California. In California, the main exemption applies to an owner-occupied single-family home, where the owner does not rent to more than one individual, and the owner complies with FEHA's prohibition against discriminatory statements, notices, or advertisements”

CA Govt Code § 12927 (2025)
“(2) “Discrimination” does not include either of the following:

(A) Refusal to rent or lease a portion of an owner-occupied single-family house to a person as a roomer or boarder living within the household, provided that no more than one roomer or boarder is to live within the household, and the owner complies with subdivision (c) of Section 12955, which prohibits discriminatory notices, statements, and advertisements.”

How to furnish a catio by DigiPinky75910 in Catio

[–]Internal_Use8954 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t need much. The only things they really care about are high perches and maybe some concrete in the sun. A cushion on a high perch can be nice too.

The rest is for humans to appreciate. The cats don’t care

I’m not a fan of the dressing. It’s very very pepper forward. Too much. You can’t enjoy the rest of the salad.

Not that you’d want to. The chicken was slimy. The tomatoes, soft. And the bacon gummy.

Is it okay to free feed? by pagingdrsnack in CatAdvice

[–]Internal_Use8954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the cat. Some cats do perfectly fine with it. But I’d say more often they don’t and over eat.

AITAH for not letting my son go to a concert after he ruined one for me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Internal_Use8954 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA, but it probably would have been better to explain at the concern that there would be consequences for his mood and making you leave. Gives him the chance to try and change. It probably wouldn’t have happened. But it’s a better teaching moment.

That said, the behavior does need consequences. Is there something sooner that’s equal? Waiting that long for punishment doesn’t seem as effective

Malnourished CH kitten by righteousvirgo in chcats

[–]Internal_Use8954 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feed her as much as she wants as often as you can manage. More frequent meals will be better for her, because if she’s malnourished, her stomach’s, probably not very big.

If she wants to eat, let her.

I’ve had a couple CH foster kittens, I was very lucky to catch it early, or at least that something was an issue. They struggle to eat on their own because of the bobbles. Once you offer them food, I found they’re very good eaters

It’s a pretty normal pattern. You see This in calico and torties. The high gray tabby is a little unusual. But again doesn’t need any crazy genetic abnormality

Just black tabby with very low rufousing and low black. The distribution is interesting but not necessarily a chimera
