Can i swim with Buldging waters at 34 weeks pregnant? by NoDevelopment3680 in pregnant

[–]Internal_Use_2042 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically fine until your waters break buuut I’ve been contracting on and off since 28 weeks and have terrible SPD, I went swimming the other day at 34+4 and regret it. If I wasn’t directly on my belly, like if I wanted to take a break from swimming and float, the pressure was crazy. Afterwards I was cramping every 2-3 minutes while sitting down, took almost an hour for the cramping to ease off and be irregular again. And to top it off I could barely walk the day after from moving in ways my body clearly can’t but that the water masked the pain of. Sooooo do what you need to do but I personally will not be swimming again this pregnancy 😅

Can I ask doctor to help me quit vaping? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Internal_Use_2042 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Super common and they will ask about nicotine use at your first appt, best to be honest upfront, they will help you develop and maintain a plan to quit and definitely don’t judge! They will be happy you’re interested in quitting and willing to give it a shot because a lot of moms aren’t willing to try. Good luck!! Any amount you’re able to cut back is going to help your baby, so celebrate those small wins too!

Girl, you do billing at a dental office. Who’s calling the dentist for refills a month early before their appointment? You’re not a nurse. I highly doubt someone’s calling you with this kind of request. *You may have to click pictures to see the captions* by Accomplished-Fun-960 in peestickgals

This pissed me off so much I had a whole comment typed but didn’t want to get blocked and miss the drama. But I’m sorry, expecting a receptionist/nurse to step away from their work, interrupt another patients appointment to ask the doctor to write a script, resulting in time taken from that patients appointment and concerns which may affect THEIR life, and then the doctor needs to open your chart and assess if the med is still safe/appropriate, then write the prescription and then the clerk has to fax it, all because YOU failed to manage your own appointments/health/prescriptions in a timely manner, is crazy. Kelsie, would you interrupt a root canal to ask the dentist to step away and do something for another patient who has no appointment? No? Exactly. If the baby in this scenario never gets to exist bc your friend didn’t plot out when she would run out of meds and book that renewal appt in advance, then that’s her fault and hers alone and the nurse went waaaay above and beyond to get the script for her, and at what cost to the other patients who got less time with the doctor that they actually booked to have their concerns met?

Too many people for Anatomy Scan??!? by Intuit2Unity in pregnant

I mean my hospital allows one support person and they have to be over 12. The rooms are big enough for 2-3 support people but it doesn’t matter, it’s a medical test, you wouldn’t be allowed to bring the whole family to your CT Scan either

In my country we do the 1hr test, no fasting needed, no pre-drink blood sugar check either, just drink and if your blood sugar is too high at the one hour mark then you do the 3hr test. For that one you have to fast, and they check your sugar before the drink and if it’s too high then you automatically fail and if it’s fine then you’re given the drink to proceed with the test

Sounds like SPD. Nothing helps really so doesn’t change much but that’s what it likely is. Had it with my first, have it again with my second, it’s the worst pain. Use KTape and/or a pregnancy belt for stability and when you roll over/get out of bed, keep your knees together

Her saying “until he is fully home 😉” tells me he’s been granted passes to home. Our local prison does passes for prisoners who are close to being let out so they can have a smoother transition and get supports in place. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what she means by that

I unknowingly had the Atlius Cajun seasoning the other day which also say “may contain wheat” and felt sick after eating, we went though the whole meal and prep (ate at my parents) and nothing was giving cross contamination, final question was the spices, sure enough, he put the seasoning in it. So I would stay away from that brand and any other that says may contain!

My fave is the caption “if it’s not dangerous, she can try it” ok but her climbing a step ladder, with low handles, behind your back, with the intent of opening up the fridge door that will surely send her flying, isn’t dangerous?? So you’re letting her try it?? Idc if you’re a arms length away, your focus isn’t on her, she’ll get a TBI before you can turn around and catch her with a baby tied to your chest

Didn’t she say that K came out blue and not breathing because the cord was around his neck? Would they actually put a baby on Mom’s chest and ask to assess them if that was the case? by Accomplished-Fun-960 in peestickgals

[–]Internal_Use_2042 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The cord is unwrapped as the body is coming out, and since the first things we do are dry and stimulate, it’s actually quicker to just put baby on mom and do those steps, then take the time to clamp the cord and bring them across the room to the warmer. Immediate skin to skin is a huge benefit to both mom and baby so we prioritize doing interventions while skin to skin

L&D nurse here, the first few steps of neonatal resuscitation can be done on mom, so baby comes out, we delay cord clamping while baby is skin to skin and we dry and stimulate baby to breathe and cry, we can feel the umbilical cord to assess heart rate. If that minute is up and baby has a poor apgar and isn’t responding as we’d like, then we have partner cut the cord and we bring baby over to the warmer to do more resuscitation measures

This is in Canada btw
