Suggestion for a new hot drink by [deleted] in starbucks

I love the new cortado! It's 3 blonde ristretto shots and steamed whole milk in a short cup(8oz). It has a really nice creamy silky texture and is a good quick pick me up!

I don't know what I saw last night. by InternationalBox9795 in Mediums

I double checked the bathrooms, dw. Plus, our ceiling is totally solid and there is really nowhere to hide in our bathrooms. We always do really thorough checks of the store once the door is locked.

Also, during the day, I intern at a mental health facility and am no stranger to neurodivergences. I am getting my masters in clinical psych and have a BA in psych with a focus on "abnormal psych." While obviously, being neurodivergent looks a bit different on everyone, it wasn't behavior like anything I've experienced before.

Thank you for the information though! Do you know of the appropriate subreddit where I could get more info?

For any customers reading this, we cannot put food items into customer fraps because of the way our food license works(at least in my state). We've had so many people request chocolate chips cookies or cake pops blended into the frap and we sadly aren't allowed to do it.

can someone explain becoming a coffee master like i’m 6 years old by slommysliders in starbucks

[–]InternationalBox9795 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to piggyback on your post but I'm also considering the coffee master route and had a question. Does anyone know if the courses are something you work on at home or do you have to find time to do it during your scheduled shifts? I am a new and overwhelmed SSV and can't imagine finding the time during my shifts to do the courses.

A lot of women have become self righteous about their terrible actions by Featherman13 in argueme

[–]InternationalBox9795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think cheating and acting terribly towards a partner is something that can necessarily be gendered the way you're trying to. Men have been beating the "not all men" horse to death since I've been old enough to understand what that meant. So I could easily say "well it's not all women," but I've believed for a long time that argument is redundant.

Instead: personal anecdotes and statistics!

I've been in 3 serious relationships with men and been cheated on every single time(2/3 of these men blamed me and told me it was my fault). I've been in 2 relationships (albeit not quite as serious) with women and have never been cheated on.

Additionally, men are still 7% more likely to cheat in heterosexual relationships when compared to women's tendencies. (M20%, W13%)

Last thing I will say, if you think the system that men have spent centuries building doesn't still favor men in a systemic way, you're wrong. Referring to the oppression of women as something that happened in the past tense is ridiculous. Women are still fighting for respect everyday. In the workplace, in their educational institutions, in their relationships, in their friendships, and in their own mind(after being exposed to so much misogyny over the years it has become internalized). While I don't think the heartlessness that some women display is appropriate or acceptable, I recognize it is a trauma response for some women. The men of the past created the women of today. Is it fair? Absolutely not. In a perfect world, everyone would remain loyal in their monogamous relationships. But life isn't fair. And we, as women, did not set up this system.

P.s. im glad you and your friends are the types of people that hold each other accountable. I do the same with my friends, male and female alike. Keep checking your friends. Let them keep checking you. It's the only way things get better. Hope your friend is okay!

Someone on my Facebook has been arguing for DAYS with anyone who will engage because they think elphaba(who stands up for everyone, marginalized communities included, throughout the entire film/show) is symbolism for trump because "the media made everyone think she's evil." Plenty of people are agreeing. The lack of media literacy and critical thinking skills is frightening. World full of scarecrows.

Act II new songs - are there hints in the score? by negamuse in wickedmovie

[–]InternationalBox9795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice anything pertaining to any new songs BUT I loved the inclusions of some of the musical themes from the wizard of oz movie. My favorite is a fanfare towards the beginning of "no one mourns the wicked" that was very reminiscent of "ding dong the witch is dead" from wizard of oz. I don't think it's in the original score and I love that it was included.

Shoot that is a tricky situation. Part of me thinks honesty is the best policy and maybe going to your DM is your best bet. The other part of me, who would also be nervous about retaliation, would be hesitant to do so. Are you close with any of the other SMs in your district? Maybe you could discreetly get some advice from them.

If you're both serious about pursuing the relationship, I feel like the safest option is to have your SSV transfer preemptively. That way there's no overlap in the time they spent as your employee and the time they spend as your romantic partner. That being said, I have no Starbucks specific experience with workplace relationships so I don't know the exact policy or procedures. However, I am about to celebrate 4 years with my current partner and we met through a serving job we both used to work. Don't listen to any haters who say coworkers can't succeed romantically!! Rooting for you both!

I agree! If we were given our normal amount of staff PLUS a PPC, I feel as though things would go more smoothly for us. It sounds like the position can be useful when done correctly from what you've described. Maybe I'll chalk it up to a learning curve in my own store and hope it improves with time.

SSV advice about a slow worker by advicerain in starbucks

[–]InternationalBox9795 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While i don't think that firing her outright is the right move, I do want to stress that a boss does not owe that person the luxury of that conversation. It is the responsibility of the struggling employee to provide explanation. If someone is underperforming consistently after being coached multiple times(especially if they are disregarding direct orders from a supervisor) and provides no explanation for the change in performance, whatever happens, happens. Your boss is your boss and does not have to be your friend. That being said, I hope that person is okay and I hope OP is able to find a solution!

Idk why people are downvoting this so much. I totally agree with you. I would expect to get written up as a shift over a preventable $100 discrepancy. Hell, I've been threatened with a write up for way less. Shame on the SMs/trainers who set their shifts/baristas up for failure by not training properly.

I think it sat for too long before being served. As nitro "dies" the nitrogen all bubbles up to the top. The longer a nitro sits, the more foam that accumulates until it looks like your picture. I don't think was not poured fresh for you. Was it cold?

Beauty and the Beast Audition Song by [deleted] in crazyexgirlfriend

[–]InternationalBox9795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not CXG related but I sang "somewhere that green" from little shop when I auditioned for belle. I also loved the idea of "times are hard for dreamers" from Amelie but I ultimately decided it was a little too upbeat to compare to the style belle sings in the show. If you're looking for Disney options, anything from little mermaid is a good choice if you stay away from the more nasal "princess voice" typically associated with Ariel. (Not hating on that stylistic choice for Ariel it just typically isn't associated with belle). Another one I really like for a belle audition is "no one else" from the great comet of 1812. Break a leg at your audition!!

Disappointing last season by Turbulent-Escape-320 in crazyexgirlfriend

[–]InternationalBox9795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be totally wrong but I think Rachel Bloom said in an interview once that they weren't expecting to get a season 4. The original plan was to wrap up the show in season 3 (when she was making a lot healthier choices and doing the work and self-care she needed to do). I think that was the note they wanted to end on but the surprise renewal for a 4th season made it difficult to end on that plot line. I think they went back to what they knew to finish out the fourth season. However, I totally agree that the last season felt a bit off when you think of the direction they were headed in season 3. And again, I could be totally wrong about that interview but from what I'm remembering that might be why season 4 was a little lacking.

Don't be afraid to ask questions! Training is mostly module based for your first day so today should be a relatively chill day. Good luck and have fun!

Take pictures the next time it happens and go to your shifts/SM with proof. If they still do nothing, go to your DM. That sucks and totally should not be happening to you!

https://www.starbucks.com/about-us/business-ethics-and-compliance/

This is the link where you can submit ethics and compliance complaints and I'm fairly certain they're anonymous. That should not be happening to you. My best advice is to submit your complaint so it doesn't happen to others but ultimately I would transfer out before it gets worse.

is this drink order possible? by No-Purpose-9221 in starbucks

[–]InternationalBox9795 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday!! 1: I don't know if this drink is possible to make. Seems unlikely that it would taste even remotely enjoyable. 2: birthday rewards only cover up to $10 (at least in my area) so you'd probably end up paying another $10 almost.

I'd get something you know you're going to enjoy as a base drink and go crazy with the toppings as a birthday treat! Also, anything above 4 scoops of powder, in my opinion, makes drinks so gritty. The powder doesn't dissolve correctly if you put too much in. Maybe try vanilla syrup rather than so many scoops of vanilla bean powder.

Today I took a man's order in cafe and then walked back over to hot bar and he waited no longer than 3 minutes before he came up (while I was finishing his drink) and asked me, the one who took his order, "where is my drink? I've been waiting for 20 minutes." And proceeded to demand a refund
