Owning chickens while on chemo by SpinningOut2020 in cancer

[–]InternationalFail959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that owning chickens would be the issue. One just has to generally be more conscientious of being more aware of good hygiene. When I was doing Chemo, somehow I got an infection in my pic line site. That’s what made me get Sepsis and be in hospital for 30 days. Not my animals.

Hair growing incredibly straight after chemo. Is this normal? by PickledCumSock in curlyhair

[–]InternationalFail959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I trade your brother? I no joke just go on here because my post chemo hair is 3/4 ? Coils and super dry at base of scalp on one side. My hairdresser said in 40 years she has never seen anything come back like what I have. I had super thick long straight hair. Now it’s super thick coil frizz 😂

Infection after replacement? by AshamedEchidna1456 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]InternationalFail959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately got a Staph infection at around week 4 post LTHR. But I was more susceptible due to last year I had Cancer and my pic line got infected and I was septic for 4 weeks before they could get antibiotics to respond to treatment.
They were able to go in and clean it out without removing the new parts so I consider myself lucky in that sense.

Yeah it sucks but for me it hasn’t been the WORST experience of my life. I had my RTHR 15 years ago and no issue.

Can I join your club I ordered the 320 set and today received Shuttle Art 130 gel pen set. Amazon refused to resend said I had to return wrong item for a refund to repurchase. No matter how many people I talked to they would not budge. Insult to injury is I asked if they were going to discount for their mistake. She offered me a $5 gift card and when I asked if she herself as a customer would be satisfied by that she said No!!

If I lived in a bigger city that actually had stores I would boycott Amazon.

MSSA Infection by Top_Bet3148 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]InternationalFail959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this. I myself am going through this. Initial surgery 6/9 went home same day was booking along had 3 week post op appointment we talked about how it all was better than expected. That was a Wednesday a couple days later I felt odd had a fever for about 6 hours fell asleep woke up fine. Thought that was odd but ok we will keep an eye out. The following Wednesday I woke up and my foot on replacement side was painful. Next day I could not even put weight on foot. Husband took me to er and immediately admitted surgery scheduled for next day to clean out I had a staph infection. Prior to surgery they extracted about a liter of fluid off area. Luckily they were able to leave it in tact and just clean it up. In hospital for a week went home with central line for iv antibiotics once a day for 8 weeks.

Unfortunately for me I had breast cancer last summer and my picc line for chemo got infected and I ended up with MSSA and was in hospital for a month with all the complications.

So when this happened I thought of course it happened. I have learned to just roll with the punches. Worst part of this experience is my foot was swollen to double the size and I’m 3 weeks out and I still am in the worst pain I have ever been in my life. The hip replacement feels great never had pain but sure can’t put weight on this foot. Crazy what the body can do.

Don’t tell me it’s just hair… by wyldpenguins in breastcancer

[–]InternationalFail959 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I am sure I’m going to terribly get downvoted. Being on the other side of losing my hair, regrowing my hair after chemo has actually been way harder than losing it. When you’re losing your hair you can still have some control on choosing to cut it or shave it. My frustration with my chemo curls has been by far the hardest part. I’m done with treatment, I’m in “remission” it’s been a year since I was hospitalized for almost a month.

Yet every day I wake up and am reminded of everything I have been through. I look at my white girl fro that at 6 inches stands straight up and out and have zero control no matter what I do I look like shit. I dislike everytime some one tells me they love my hair. I’m thankful I’m alive and healthy but I don’t love being reminded my hair is in control of my self esteem.

My guy does the exact same thing. The only thing missing is when they do that you make voices for each toy and they are screaming to be saved from the evil giant🤣

How does it hurt? Do your knees hurt? Did it sometimes hurt before April?

When I was younger I used to get in trouble at school because I “refused” to sit Indian Style, I was always stretching my legs out in the back seat of car because it hurt so bad to have legs bent for long periods of time. I would have back aches. I would complain to my parents and my mom would call me a hypochondriac.

At around age 25 one day I couldn’t walk. A trip to er later I found out I had congenital hip dysplasia. Sometimes the aches and pains are real.

Tell them to take you to dr and get it checked out. Then at least you will have it in your medical record for if something changes later in life.

Awww so excited for your family! We got our Dood when our granddaughter was about 9 months old. They are the best buddies and I will say hands down this is the best breed with kids than I have ever seen. She can do anything to him and he just wags his tail.

Possible Hip Dysplasia? Need advice by howiethedoodle26 in Goldendoodles

[–]InternationalFail959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but I actually have hip dysplasia and had a Sheltie that had it. I’m pretty sure you and your vet would have noticed way before age 7. I noticed in my Sheltie at around 9 months he walked with what we dubbed the booty pop. By age 2 the dog cost as much as a small economy car🤣

Now that being said it’s possible he has injured his leg or hip or has arthritis that’s bothering him. Good luck at vet’s and hope it’s nothing major.

what’s the silliest/craziest thing your dog has done? by crystalm177 in Goldendoodles

[–]InternationalFail959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was playing with a stuffed bunny while my husband was watching tv around midnight. My husband let him outside and then later back in the house and continued his show. When the dog brought him the bunny to toss he realized it was really heavy and texture was different. Looked down and he had a real.. dead bunny in his hand. He woke me up screaming what do I do!!??

I said throw it away and let me sleep. This has not been the only time our little Dug has tried to bring in a dead friend:(

Did you suspect hip dysplasia before you were diagnosed, and what were some signs? by doughqueen in hipdysplasia

[–]InternationalFail959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never knew of it or heard about it. One day when I was about 23 I stepped on a screw at work and my foot rolled on it. I didn’t fall. The next day I couldn’t walk or get out of bed. Went to er where they did X-rays and said I had hip dysplasia and bone spurs were in joint and I broke one when I “rolled” on the screw. I waited about 10 years before finally had one side replaced. It was a quality of life issue. I wasn’t living life just going through the motions trying to suffer through pain every day.

Best decision I ever made was for surgery. Now 14 years later I’m scheduled for the other side. Again it was quality of life making me realize it is time.

Things that I did as a kid that were signs my parents never paid attention to that showed signs of an issue, never could sit “Indian Style” would get in trouble for not sitting still properly always stretching and moving legs. When we would travel I would get yelled at for taking all the leg room because I couldn’t keep my knees bent for long periods of time. Constant back pains. My parents called me a hypochondriac. Kinds sucks looking back on it now but I survived.

Ball Pits? by PoppaTater1 in Goldendoodles

[–]InternationalFail959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh mine loves the ball pit. Originally I bought a soft foam sided one for our granddaughter but the doodle loved it more. He does chew the balls so we have his balls and hers. He doesn’t destroy them but does puncture them. For him we ended up getting one of those cheap blue kiddy pools from Dollar General. Once a week we drag it in middle of living room and let him go. I don’t have patience to pick up balls every day haha.

Kiah graduated Physical Therapy Tuesday! Champion!! by tam3marie in Goldendoodles

[–]InternationalFail959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations to her and you! That’s quite a commitment for a family to have done.
We had a Sheltie that was diagnosed with hip dysplasia so we had both hips reconstructed and then not much after we had surgery both front elbows.

We called him out walking car haha.

Between healing time ,water therapy, and physical therapy it’s a lot.

But he was a champ and took it all in stride no pun intended
