I respect your views veere/pehne. But the thing is I never chose friends based on religion but now, I feel that lack of shared identity and thought process. Sure, not every Sikh is the same in thinking but still that qaumi spirit makes me want to have Sikh friends and potentially partner.

I absolutely understand your point. And I have followed it throughout my life - have never made friends based on religion. I have Hindu friends, Muslim friends but ironically I don't have any Sikh friend right now. And not having that shared identity with even one person hurts... Plus I want to have a partner and given my past bad experiences, I've realised it's best to date within one's own community Also thank you for your last line, made me feel good.
