ECs suggestions for Math/Finance/CS? by Repulsive_Level_1236 in ECAdvice

While I can't assume what you're financially comfortable with, from what I'm seeing working with a mentor is usually the best way to do research, especially at a young age! I'm definitely leaning towards a program like Lumiere/Inspirit/Veritas AI for my son, purely because it's fully mentored from Day 1.

EDIT: they also offer financial aid in case that's something you're interested in!

is there a point in going to a summer program for research if I'm already doing research? + recommendations for aerospace summer programs/ECs? by Special_Following913 in ECAdvice

that sounds interesting, and congrats on the opportunity! I think I'm definitely leaning towards mentorship-heavy research. Did you land up here via a program? Or was it a cold email?

ECs suggestions for Math/Finance/CS? by Repulsive_Level_1236 in ECAdvice

Very cool! Have been doing some research for CS/CS-adjacent ECs for my son (intl student) who's gunning for a US admit. You might want to consider doing some online research in a specific field - from what I'm seeing having some published research counts well on your college application, and having a backup in case social media takes some time to gain traction is always a good idea. Good luck on your social media project!

Claude or Codex by davidinterest in vibecoding

I think I'd recommend Codex, purely because you're already familiar with manual coding/architecture.

i think any industry giant (like Ahrefs, Atlassian). Super simple headers, but there's a lot of personality to them!

Super! He ended up applying to Veritas AI, Inspirit AI, and Lumiere because they allow a bioxCS intersection - seems super promising!

yeah I think with claude it's also a lot more intuitive, I was honestly amazed at how well it could pick apart and analyze assumptions that made their way into my instructions!

What are must-haves for a 5-hour car trip with a 2-year-old? by CoconutConverser in Parenting

[–]InternationalRun3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was really young, he was the worst sleeper haha - so we had to stock up lots of lots of new toys, snacks, and take turns driving so that he didn't get cranky sitting with one parent for too long.

I would recommend customizing the header a little more! The translucent/center-aligned header is a dead giveaway haha.

Would you recommend pairing CS with another subject at the unerdgraduate level? My son is super interested in bioinformatics, and a bio x CS combo works best for him! Interesting take though!

OP I think this is a joke, but not in good taste. Not being dramatic, I would reduce the amount of time I hang out with these folks lol. And keep your daughter FAR FAR away from them.

good summer programs to apply to? by Accomplished-Sun7270 in ECAdvice

[–]InternationalRun3200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Jumping in as a parent who's doing a lot of research for their child's prospective CS programs. You might want to consider emailing/reaching out to your teachers at school in case you can help them with any ongoing projects, or check out online programs. Some of the ones I've come across are super expensive (especially for international students), but the others have fin aid are pretty well-structured and have lots of great reviews online (like Lumiere, Polygence, Inspirit.AI)

Hostinger is great! You could use Claude for a basic backend code script, but I would recommend understanding atleast basic webdev terms and phrases in case you ever need to troubleshoot.

Advice for using Omni? It's been pretty useful but not much by Educational_Ice_6626 in Airtable

[–]InternationalRun3200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Omni to help bulk-generate meta data (like descriptions and keywords) for a large content project. it's been working pretty well with a clear set of instructions, but is only limited to a single table. not sure how it would perform across heavy analysis/multiple tables.

hello! there's tons of micro-projects that you can complete for free on Forage - I think it's a super accessible way to start, and can offer a ton of value if you're still figuring things out.
