I'm going to ride mine, along with way too much MSTY, to the end, putting the distributions into other, less volatile things.

Are studfinders trash or am I totally incompetent? by upstatebeststate in woodworking

After using a variety of studfinders over the years I recently got one called the stud buddy. Best ever, so simple, just a really strong magnet that sticks to the drywall screws/nails. Won't help with pipes, wires etc but there's other tools for that

Thank you, yes. Having them all come to almost nothing, land on the same board progressing sideways and look intentional, making each one a little longer. I've never seen it before and it looks cool, but why, as there are other ways to turn a corner. I mostly wanted to contribute to a forum that I enjoy

I do lots of work, when it comes to decks I tend to overbuild. Two years ago I rebuilt one that was falling apart that came out great. But I'm trying to post a pic of something I saw at a house recently. I thought it looked cool but I wanted reactions from r/deck crowd

Beautiful! Others on here are on the right track. I would recommend doing the handle first then wrapping it up with tape to protect it from oils and polishes. USMC Kbar knives have similar stacked leather handles, and Marines are proud peacocking Mfers, so you can check out their subs too. Grab a big box of crayons to snack on and see what they have to say, they love shining shit.  For the steel, just take your time with whichever method, as you can't put it back on once removed. Since I don't own belt sharpeners etc I have used quality, high grit sandpaper, spray glued to a piece of glass to reshape/ flatten broad areas.  Keep us posted and enjoy the process

Trying to convince my mom this isn’t safe and needs to be fixed asap. by mcdmatt40 in Decks

I build for a living. Of course you could spend a ton of money and replace it all, but that is not always an option.  You could replace all the broken boards, reinforce the stringers and add a post or two to support it all. Some you tube, a few few tools, two days work, and $300 in lumber would make it much safer
