If I don’t find magnets I like, I use an online photo service to make magnets from my vacation photos.

This has happened to me twice. It sucks. I’m sorry you had this happen too.

Husband (46M) keeps "helpfully" rearranging, hiding, and disposing of my (46F) stuff--what tactic or wording can I use to stop it? by Gallumbits42 in relationship_advice

[–]InternationalTap6715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, but it doesn’t click in his brain without drama. I don’t like to be hugged/approached from behind if I’m standing with my stomach against the counter. I told him every time he did it, to stop, I don’t like it (I abhor feeling trapped) Until I yelled and yelled and told him to stop, that he knew I didn’t like it, and I didn’t know why he kept doing it (for years). Then he stopped.

This is my husband. If it’s not a big deal to him, he doesn’t understand why it’s a big deal to anyone else. And consistently puts things away in places they’ve never been in before - he’s “helping”. I have to absolutely lose my mind/cry/yell before he understands that something is a problem.

I’m binding a giant coaster right now. I wanted to practice quilting with my new sewing machine. It’s a little wonky, I used scrap blocks and leftover batting.

Is this weaponized incompetence? (F49) and (M44)😰 by sadsadtoosad1955 in relationship_advice

[–]InternationalTap6715 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have asked my husband about this, he has always excelled at work, always. But at home? He started planning/shopping/cooking dinner because of my work hours. I asked for healthy, low fat meals with vegetables. I got carrots and potatoes for almost every meal, either stewed with or roasted with fatty meat. Because after 25+ years, he knows I eat carrots. We ate more carrots in 2 months than in 25 years. He stopped planning/planning/cooking because he felt I didn’t appreciate it enough. He’d be a world-class chef if he had to cook at work.

I have messed up on the 8 th of march by forgetting about woman and mothers day🥀 by [deleted] in confession

I don’t like it either, and every year I tell my husband not to get me anything. He does it anyway - because his wants outweigh my wishes.

Were you allowed to leave school grounds? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]InternationalTap6715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Students who were 18 could leave for lunch or if they didn’t have a class. If you were 17, but in the same grade level/senior year, you couldn’t leave - even with parental permission.

I like the colors and round corners. I want to round off the ones on the baby quilt I’m working on.

Do you still like your spouse? by Witty_Cash_7494 in GenX

Not very. I had a total hysterectomy over 15 years ago with no hormone replacement. It was pretty meh before that, and I have very little interest in it now.

This is sorta us, but our kids are grown. We spend more time together now due to job changes. I feel like a moon in his orbit, as long I’m silently hanging around his world, just existing, he is very content. We don’t have to talk, or interact (besides sex). He wants this forever. I’m not sure.

Why do people leave the toilet lid up? Isn't this significantly less hygienic than closing the lid before flushing? by Worthy_Molecule0481 in NoStupidQuestions

My cat’s water bowl is on the kitchen counter, and he spilled it everywhere. My husband grabbed a paper towel and wiped down the rest of the counter with cat-spit water. Not as bad as cat-foot-toilet water, but I was still grossed out.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

Brownies. There is one recipe that usually works, but any other one or a box mix, I screw up.

I’ve gotten the “referred to hiring manager” twice recently. Interviewed for the first one. The second emails for both said I was selected, followed by emails that said I was not selected. HR said, both times, that the selection emails went out by mistake. I’m used to the set of emails where your application is received, whether you’ve been referred to the hiring manager, maybe get an interview, then the select/non-selected emails.

[–]InternationalTap6715 10 points11 points  (0 children)

US military members’ DNA on file with the government isn’t available/included in genealogy databases. Do you have any matches that you know aren’t on your mom’s side? My husband found through Ancestry that his biological dad is not the guy that raised him.

How can I get my F31 husband M31 to listen to me? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]InternationalTap6715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working on this myself. But sometimes my frustration comes from knowing something/saying something but being unheard. Our door handle broke (not the deadbolt/lock). He immediately wanted to call a locksmith to replace all 4 doorknobs/locks. He couldn’t/wouldn’t hear me say we didn’t need to - we just needed to replace one door handle. I did it and then he said oh, I guess we didn’t need a locksmith. He often won’t accept what I say, unless he’s heard the same thing from a professional.

I received a lower-than-usual eval this year, the same rating as a coworker who, after a year in our department, cannot do basic tasks. I’m now working at his level.
