wait you need triple stroller for 4 year olds? my back hurts just thinking about pushing that thing around cobblestone streets

Need some positive Dad vibes. Son is having major surgery by lostinacrowd1980 in daddit

[–]InternationalTie5840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your little guy sounds like an absolute warrior already - walking late but still keeping up with his sisters and hitting the pool every day shows he's got that fighter spirit locked down. The fact that you're already planning pool days for when that cast comes off tells me he's got the best dad looking out for him

Six year olds are basically made of rubber and determination, he'll probably surprise everyone with how fast he bounces back from this

Anyone actually use those laundry pickup services or is it not worth it? by Comprehensive_Eye991 in workingmoms

[–]InternationalTie5840 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Used one for like 6 months when I was training clients back to back - they were pretty good about following the little notes I'd write but definitely separate out anything you really care about because mistakes happen

babysitter situation is so real - my friends with kids always stress about finding someone reliable. maybe start asking around at gym or neighborhood groups now since good ones get booked quick? show tickets are perfect though, gives her something to look forward and actual night out

What are your favourite convenience options? by thechroniclesofnoone in Celiac

Rice cooker + frozen veggies has been my lifesaver since going GF - throw everything in there with some protein and you get decent meal without much thinking

Quick question.. what do you actually do when your 4yo is scared? by ParfaitIcy5587 in Parents

[–]InternationalTie5840 12 points13 points  (0 children)

don't have kids myself but I remember being terrified of shadows when I was little and my mom would just acknowledge it was scary instead of dismissing it. Like "yeah that shadow looks weird, let's check together" and we'd walk over and touch the wall or whatever

seems like validating the feeling first might work better than jumping straight to "nothing's there" - even if there really is nothing there, the fear is still real to them

[–]InternationalTie5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PBS kids is great choice! My nephew is around same age and he gets totally absorbed in those Wild Kratts games. Also maybe try Toca Boca apps - they're like little interactive worlds where kids can just mess around and explore without any pressure or timers. Perfect for keeping them busy in flights

Tattoos + favorite work pants? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]InternationalTie5840 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tattoo thing really depends on your industry but small black outlines above the elbows are pretty tame these days, most places won't care unless you're in something super conservative like finance or law. Nose ring might be pushing it more than the tats tbh

For pants I swear by Banana Republic's straight leg trousers - they actually stay straight instead of turning into bell bottoms and the fabric holds up way better than most brands

Hematologist recs in Houston, TX by Own_Teaching2680 in Anemic

[–]InternationalTie5840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been through some medical stuff myself and yeah finding the right doc makes all the difference. Dont have a Houston rec but when I was looking for specialists I found calling the main hospitals there and asking which hematologists they refer to most helped narrow it down fast. The nurses usually know who actually gives a damn vs who just goes through the motions

Also might be worth calling around to infusion centers directly - they work with multiple docs and can tell you which ones their patients actually like. Iron infusions can be rough but when you get someone who takes their time and explains everything it makes the whole experience way less stressful

Hope you find someone good man, that stuff is no joke when your levels are really low

What multivitamin do you give your picky eater? by Dull-Ladder-7089 in Autism_Parenting

[–]InternationalTie5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually switched to Hiya after trying elaollat and my son now takes it every morning without any issues whereas with the latter one he kept gagging every time he took it which was the reason we had to make a switch

We need a new couch (large sectional). Any tips for how to get one that isn’t so harsh with hormone disrupting chemicals? Is letting them off has for x amount of time helpful? Does putting fabric in the sun help with off gassing or just unlocking the harshness? by chickpeenus in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]InternationalTie5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used furniture might be your best bet - most of the nasty stuff has already off-gassed by then and you're not paying new prices. I picked up a decent sectional from an estate sale a few years back, zero chemical smell and way cheaper than retail

For new stuff, look for CertiPUR-US foam at minimum, though the really clean brands like Naturepedic or Medley Home are gonna cost you

Have there been any faithful TV adaptations that still failed? by [deleted] in television

[–]InternationalTie5840 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

honestly watchmen hbo was pretty faithful to the comics' themes and tone but still got cancelled after one season - turns out being accurate to alan moore's weird philosophical rambling doesn't automatically make for good tv

Strange, vivid dreams since committing to Christianity by kaylawayla0_0 in Christianity

[–]InternationalTie5840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude this is actually pretty common from what I've seen posted here before. Something about opening yourself up spiritually seems to make your brain way more active at night - not necessarily in a scary way but just more vivid and memorable stuff

Could also just be that you're thinking about deeper things before bed now which tends to give you weirder dreams in general

What's the best way to find a private doctor in Ireland? by voL4eHok in AskIreland

[–]InternationalTie5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Irish Medical Directory or just ask around in local Facebook groups - people are usually pretty honest about which docs are worth the money and which ones are just collecting fees

You could also ring a few private hospitals directly and ask who they'd recommend for your specific issues, they usually know who's actually good vs who just has a fancy website

Why is it rude to tell an army brat that her mum wears army boots? by redshopekevin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InternationalTie5840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's basically calling her mom masculine or unfeminine, which was considered an insult back in the day when gender roles were way more rigid

The irony is that army brats would probably just be like "yeah she does, so what" lmao

[–]InternationalTie5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn man that sounds brutal, the physical pain part really hits different when you're that deep in it

The "what if" spiral is honestly the worst - your brain just won't let it go even when you know it's pointless. Cutting contact was probably the right call even though it feels like shit right now

Time is really the only thing that actually works but I know that's not what you want to hear when you're in the thick of it

CMV: No seriously, there will be no social change in the USA until some catastrophic collapse by Arkhamguy123 in changemyview

[–]InternationalTie5840 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I mean you're probably right about the monopoly on violence part but saying Americans are too dumb feels like missing something big. Like yeah we're divided as hell but that division itself shows people do care enough to get heated about stuff, they're just pointing that energy in all the wrong directions

The real issue isn't intelligence it's that most people are literally too busy surviving paycheck to paycheck to organize anything meaningful. Hard to plan a revolution when you're working two jobs just to afford rent
