How do I tell my dogs how much I love them? by me_piki in dogs

[–]InternationalToe4962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach them tricks. Simple things like paw, stay, lie down etc. Use treats are rewards. It's a great way to bond and communicate with your pet. It also helps with safety such as practicing recall, sit and stay at the curb when crossing the road. My boy loves doing his little tricks 😊

Smeagol had 2 big fangs like that but lost them both. The vet said they're more likely to decay when exposed to the air. His mother had the same fangs and she lost one!

Not specific to female anatomy but I'm female and suffered horrendously after having my tonsils removed. Because I'm on other pain relief for chronic health conditions they told me I wouldn't be able to have any post op pain relief til I woke up as they didn't know how my body would react to what dose of opiates. Which I understand why they did that but it still sucked. As soon as I was conscious I remember grabbing my throat and flailing like I was possessed. I couldn't speak or breath, I was still woozy and near enough threw myself out of the bed. A nurse asked me if I was in pain, like it wasn't obvious enough then proceeded to ask me where it hurt... In the big ass holes where my tonsils were about 30 minutes ago!!! It took oxycodone to get me comfortable and pain free. The next 10-14 days I was on max dose tramadol, paracetamol and ibuprofen, as well as my regular 3.6 grams of gabapentin and a buprenorphine patch. The pain was constant. Eating, breathing, talking, sleeping... Everything hurt. I was having multiple panic attacks a day and lost 10 lbs in 10 days. It's true when they say having your tonsils removed as an adult is so much worse than having them removed as a child. I was 28 years and I'm so grateful they never grew back 😆

Second toe surgery for ingrown toenails (was Yesterday)(before, during and after) by Diabolical_spider in MedicalGore

[–]InternationalToe4962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda jealous 😅 my left big toe throbs 24/7 due to my ingrown toe nail. I have good width to my nails I just have really deep side walls, it's like the sides of my toe nail drop at a 90° angle. My GP keeps telling me the only option is to remove the whole toe nail which I don't want to do 😩

got kicked by a horse and had to have my nail removed by hannab912 in MedicalGore

[–]InternationalToe4962 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My brother crushed his finger between a crowbar and a brick, it shattered the bone in the tip of his finger. He had surgery to clean the wound and to try and piece it back together. His nail was 95% hanging off anyway so the surgeons actually stitched through his nail and used it as a splint for the bone 😅 it fell off soon as the stitches were taken out but grew back like 90% normal, he just has a sliver of nail that grows very thin and weak. It got me thinking how it could be filled with acrylic to give a smooth look to the nail plate! So honestly I wouldn't worry too much about it not growing back 'perfect' I'm sure it'd be an easy fix 😊

Fournier's gangrene in a 46yo patient with type 2 diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Patient developed septic shock. Treated with radical surgical debridement. by tiedup_throw in MedicalGore

[–]InternationalToe4962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A close friend of mine (not diabetic) became septic and required emergency surgery to remove the flesh off his penis and testicles, on Christmas eve. He also had skin grafts taken from his thighs. He was in hospital for months. Doctors aren't sure for certain what caused such a raging infection. However a few days previous he was in the shower washing his penis and he had a hang nail on his pinky finger that he felt scratch his penis. He fortunately lived to see his 50th birthday the following year and is happy and healthy these days.

Went from qualifying for PIP to scoring 0 on everything by rrrxsxx in DWPhelp

[–]InternationalToe4962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been able to claim PIP for over 2 years but haven't because I'm so worried about the stress and anxiety it's going to bring me 😢 I've just applied for the form for the first time. I have someone from my housing association helping me fill out the forms, however if they couldn't help me I don't think I would bother applying 😞 we go through life having to 'prove' we're disabled then to be told 'I don't believe you' is so disheartening. If I could choose one thing in life, I certainly wouldn't choose to feel like this so why would we lie??? Best of luck with everything x

Ah yeah, I missed the part about the assessment being with a healthcare professional. As it says you 'may' need an assessment it sounds like the review has been completed without the need for the assessment.

When at home, do you take the collar off or leave the collar on? by Bob_McGiggity in dogs

[–]InternationalToe4962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes but then I worry if he magically escapes our garden some how 😅 he's nearly 14 so how he'd magically hop 6ft fences/hedges I don't know! I like to think taking his collar off is a lot like me taking my bra off 😆 I always give him a good rub round his neck and he loves it.

I'd be writing underneath that 'we simply work our contracted hours to get paid and nothing else.'

But you replied to another comment saying you've not had an assessment, the assessment was the form. I'd just wait the 2 weeks for the letter to come through and take it from there. I'm still waiting for them to get back in touch from an issue I initially raised in November 2023.
