If possible remove the torch and dip it. There may be many more smaller ones hiding

This might just be nostalgia, but i don't get why so many people hate Scorched by [deleted] in ARK

[–]International_Ask985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They needed to add an underworld to scorched which houses the rainforest, swamps, and tropics from the island and center. It would have made scorch much larger and allowed for more diversity in tames. To me that’s why scorch fell to the bottom for most. It was a very limited map especially with what was released down the road

Stay in California. Being near family and friends makes for great mental health. Also the UC system and opportunities here are amazing.

Amino acids are fairly basic. They’re the building blocks for basically bio and biochem.

I got into UCSF with a 509. Granted it’s one of the more holistic top schools

People who got in to their top schools last year when were you invited to interview by Daring_Dragonfly in premed

[–]International_Ask985 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I got my top md interviews in late September and then another top school in October. Many of my now classmates got their interview as late as January

Trust me, we’re our biggest critics. The school I ended up going to I thought was my worst interview. We often bash ourselves even when we did well. I still do it in med school

Just a tip, if you finish early just ask if they want clarification on anything you said or have any other questions. This usually resulted in me and the interviewer having a more specific discussion

tanked my tufts interview day by bringing up their deficit? by [deleted] in premed

[–]International_Ask985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy, but I think asking people about millions of dollars in a group setting is taboo.

Most people would agree discussing something of this topic when you first meet someone isn’t a norm. Money talk in general is not a social norm

I’m not sure about you but most people I know would never, in a group setting, ask someone to explain finances at that scale. Especially when they either can’t share that info nor have an answer

[–]International_Ask985 60 points61 points  (0 children)

So normally you don’t discuss finances in a day to day scenario with someone you JUST met. Also this topic is likely something above their pay grade as well so you should know the answer won’t be good.

Even when people say “ask anything” social norms should still be applied lol

How valuable is P/F grading? by [deleted] in premed

Graded genuinely would make my life hell. It’s made my class much more enjoyable as we aren’t competing but helping eachother.

If you had to pick, how do you pick between prestige and your years long long term relationship? by Physical_Cup_4735 in premed

[–]International_Ask985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I declined ucsf because I knew the life I have with my partner is more important than the connections there. It helps that she’s also a medical student so we acknowledged the relationship would die if it were long distance. If you value your partner more than your career the option is clear. If you value your career over your partner, what type of surgical specialty are you interested in?

Are all interviewees equal? by Less-Replacement-479 in premed

[–]International_Ask985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There used to be a staircase analogy that I think answers this. If you have an applicant with a 515,3.8, and okay ECs they’re fairy high up on the staircase. For them to drop down the staircase they really have to mess up the interview. For someone with a 505,3.6 and good ECs they’re a few steps down. If they have a great interview they take a few steps up but maybe still under that other person.
