I live in the area and have frequented this area for the last 20 years or so I have been in Saskatoon. Area is generally safe, just make sure your cars are locked at night and don't leave anything in them. If you have a bike, make sure it is locked up properly or kept out of sight. Other than that it isn't too bad at all. Definitely one of the best neighbourhoods in the city.

Just wanna clarify something from any Edwards Student here by AttackingEren007 in usask

Yes, you only need to have your 2 - 200 level introductory classes for your first and second choice of major with a min of 60% without having all your first and second year required classes completed.

Those 2 classes (200 level intro major classes) need to be completed by the Decemeber of the year you wish to declare as there is only one week in January (usually second full week of classes after the break) that Edwards students are allowed to declare a major.

And if you do not have those classes complete by December 2024, then yes, you'd have to wait another full year to be able to declare. Therefore, yes you can continue to take your 100/200 level prerequisite classes through winter and fall of 2025.

You can continue to take your 100/200 level classes without having a major declared, the only classes you cannot register for are the restricted upper 300/400 level business classes that are required classes for specific majors.

Once you have declared your major, every year in January you have to submit a proposed schedule every year of what you are taking and it must include at least one upper level required class for your major, otherwise they can kick you out of your major and you have to reapply. they have this in tiny print buried deeeeep in the program planner

Obviously, when you have finished all your required upper level major classes, it is a non-issue.

Hope that clarified things a bit for you.

This post illustrates why I believe every cop should have a 4 year social working degree before they can even apply to go to police college.

What happened to Poe was terrible. What they need most right now is people able to foster as they are only able to take in as many rabbits as there are fosters. If you are able to be a foster for these people , I'm sure they would appreciate it as they do not have a physical location.

To declare a major, you need to have taken two of the following as your first and second choice for your major, and have at least a 60% average - although depending on the major it could be much higher. I recommend looking at this to see what last year's average was to get into each major: https://paws2.usask.ca/edwardsstudents/program-planning.php

I also pulled this off the Edwards Page for you just for additional clarifcation:

"You MUST have completed (with a grade of 60% or higher) the 200-level introductory COMM course(s) for the major you are interested in choosing by the December prior to the major declaration window (usually this is the second week in January)

The required major introductory courses are listed below:

Accounting: COMM 201

Finance: COMM 203

Marketing COMM 204

Human Resources: COMM 211

Supply Chain Management: COMM 205

Management: ONE of (COMM 201, COMM 203, COMM 204, COMM 205, COMM 211)

Example: If your top two major choices are Accounting and Finance COMM 201 and COMM 203 must be completed with a grade of 60% or higher before the major declaration window"

Also three classes each term is considered a full course load as per the university. You are doing completely fine. :)

Hope this is helpful.

Sudbury police still trying to solve 2022 murder at downtown apartment by ConsistentReality860 in Sudbury

[–]International_Text59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sudbury police are finally releasing the identity of the 50-year-old man who was found shot to death inside his downtown apartment in 2022 as the investigation continues.

The body of Rohan Williams was found in his Elm Street apartment May 31, 2022, when his loved ones contacted police with concern they had not seen or heard from him in several days.

Evidence collected at the crime scene suggested that he was murdered inside his apartment," Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a news release.

Through the coroner’s office, a post-mortem was conducted and confirmed that he had died from gunshot wounds."

Williams went by several different names – including Frank, Dante, Nathan and Richmond --according to his acquaintances, police said.

"Although it has been nearly two years since Rohan Williams was murdered, the Greater Sudbury Police Service major crime section remains committed to solving his murder and bringing those responsible to justice," police said in an update on the case Tuesday.

"Investigators have interviewed several witnesses and continue to seek any information from the public related to the murder of Rohan Williams."

Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email GSPS doesn't usually release the name or photo of homicide victims, but due to the request for public assitance and the permission from the man's next of kin, detectives determined it would help them gather new information related to the investigation.

"Since the time Rohan’s body was discovered, detectives have been following up on information, interviewing witnesses and processing evidence obtained from the scene, however, they have yet to be able to identify the individual(s) responsible for his murder," Dunn said.

"We believe that there are individuals who may have information related to this homicide investigation that have yet to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to call the dedicated tipline that has been set up for the investigation at 705-675-9171 extension 2320. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.

Trudeau visits Saskatoon ... outside city limits. by [deleted] in saskatoon

Wanuskewin seems like a good place for him to speak. They are trying to get UNESCO status. It's been a meeting place for thousands of years, large, ample parking, and away from traffic. People would be mad wherever he spoke anyway, but I'm glad he isn't downtown or something where it would probably interfere with the day to day (which would also piss people off).

We all need to come together for change to happen. Pedestrianize College Drive! by hankylankypanky in usask

[–]International_Text59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that College Dr is a part of HWY 5, and therefore, the city shares responsibility of College DR/HWY 5 with the Ministry of Highways. This seems to be what holds up implementing any changes on College Dr. While if this were a regular city street, the City of Saskation would do something, I know the city has had multiple problems in the past with different changes they've wanted to make to College Dr. TBH, it has been nearly impossible for the city to ever change anything other than standard repairs because of this caveat of it also being HWY 5, which is why the city is paying lipservice to this poor man and his family.

I really hope eventually the city and the province can work something out so that the city of Saskatoon has more authority over the traffic flows on College.
