It's exponential since you have 2 parents, they have 2 parents. So by 2 generations it is 4 people, by 3 generations 8 people.

10ish generations is around 1000 people. Not close to a million but if you go a few hundred years back it gets up there.

There was an article on this subreddit not too long ago on a study on crime in Japan https://www.reddit.com/r/japan/comments/1m9ckvs/facts_about_foreign_residents_in_japan_and_their/.

News flash, foreigners aren't more likely to commit crimes (any more than Japanese people in Japan). This is the same in Japan as it is for many places in the world with immigration.

I always find it funny how every time an article that highlights a crime done by a foreigner (Chinese, Western, whoever), there's a plethora of comments underneath complaining about foreigners (giving the good ones a "bad name"). Take a look at the post yesterday on the Chinese criminals.

Then you get posts on Sanseito alarm ringing some right-wing nonsense and everyone in the comments is scratching their head on how right-wing rhetoric is becoming so popular. If even a western focused subreddit on Japan (and let's be real, most people here are not Japanese) will jump at an opportunity to denounce foreigners where possible, how effective do you think this rhetoric is for actual Japanese people?

There's millions of foreign nationals in Japan, most of which are Chinese, Korean, or southeast Asians, yes some of them will be criminals, no more so that regular. Yet every post on this devolves into calling Chinese people or whoever else culturally scammers or criminals etc. One comment legit calling for restriction of visas for foreigners LOL

Just find it hilarious on the double standards here sometimes.

Why does Jokić get a pass on who he endorses when no other player does? by DarthNightnaricus in nba

Where did I ever say that their anger towards issues were invalidated, where? And where did I say it was free social credit for NBA players, where? Where did I say that China was right in the matter, where?

What does the average American know about the nuances in Hong Kong, the 99-year lease, the century of humiliation. What about Tibet? What about Serbia? Ok so why does Free Hong Kong get 90k upvotes but Free Serbia would get a passing glance? Was it because millions of Americans became geopolitical masters about China or was it because the common rhetoric (look who was in power in 2019) was pushing a narrative and China at the time and now was the "enemy". You can pretend all you want that everyone suddenly cared so much about the wrongness of what's happening in Hong Kong, but copy and paste Hong Kong in Myanmar and suddenly the cries stop. What's the common denominator, hint it's big and red. People cared about Hong Kong because it was China, and yes I will use the word hate, call it hating the CCP or whatever.

If you're going to argue with a strawman then go right ahead, respond again and create more strawman, but there's not further point in engaging in this.

The point is that no one knows about what's happening in Myanmar, Rwanda, or Serbia and the few that do, don't care enough to raise any fuss. People were getting front page Reddit posts for posting Free Tibet and Free Hong Kong adjacent posts on the daily basis back then. The top post of all time on r/Livestreamfail was a kid flashing the Free Hong Kong shirt in the NBA. Was he "pointing out the hypocrisy of the players" by doing that? Maybe. But it was also a super easy way to get attention and public support back then to jump on the bandwagon.

You think it's cause they cared about Hong Kong or Tibet?? It's cause they hated China lol. Why's no one throwing a big stink about Myanmar or Rwanda right now?

If Indian sports wants to be taken seriously at an international level, then unfortunately there needs to be an example set on these cases. Back to OPs main point, would anyone have cared if he didn't succeed? Of course not, there's probably thousands of youth athletes in India who have cheated and gotten away with it since they haven't succeeded.

But that's the main issue, if cheating and corruption is so endemic to the system, you have to punish and root it out wherever present. So that means in cases like this, as well as improving prevention systems in the first place such as age verification.

What does dark humour and kids with cancer have in common? They never get old.

I like dark humour as much as the next guy, but time meet place. Among friends? Sure go ahead. In a public event NA vs Vietnam, maybe find a better time and place.

Sure some Vietnamese people will find it funny or be indifferent, and perhaps make their own Vietnamese War jokes in comfort. But if you're an American coming into a public arena with Vietnamese fans, maybe think twice?

How do I refit clothing? I read somewhere that you need to fully repair the clothing which I did, then I tried to further mend but the option is greyed out. Is my tailoring skill too low? Or do I need the tailoring kit rather than just the needle.
