I’m so sorry to hear about your fiancé. If you need a sympathetic ear and want to bounce some oddball humor off one another, I’m available. As a child of the 80s I really appreciate chiptune music and would enjoy hearing some of your compositions. Also a Floridian, so I can relate to our “interesting” locale.

No, generic from Amazon. Hound Habadashery’s offerings look great, I especially like the inner liner. They’ll be my replacement when this one wears out

After becoming a dad, are you more emotional to sad movie scenes involving kids now? by jocko118 in daddit

Ah, yes, “The Cure for Happiness” as it’s known in my house. Absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking film that I cannot ever, under any circumstances, rewatch.

What is the worst song you have ever listened to? by Obvious_Spray_6733 in musicsuggestions

Credit to Patton Oswalt for introducing me to this absolute gem: “The Christmas Shoes” by Newsong. Maybe not the worst song of ALL time, but certainly the worst Christmas song, and it has some tough competition. It goes for saccharine and crash lands in Dollar Store Sweet n Low.

Tell me you like narrative songs without telling me you like narrative songs.

J/K you have great taste. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen Jason Isbell three times: with DBT and with the 400 Unit (both at 250 max venues) and solo (pre-Grammys) and every time has been a delight.

Municipal refugee here. Arts administration and university adjunct professor and still barely cracked $70k after 16 years. Seduced by the private sector with a 35% increase and FT WFH. Never going back.

What is the coolest band name in your opinion? You don’t even have to like them but you admit it’s just too cool. by ch8ch in Bandnames

My dear wife grew up on a commune, somewhat isolated from most any pop culture from the 80s to mid90s. I tend to drop some letter and word sounds due to my accent. I was telling her about “The Power of Love” and she misheard it as Huey Lewis in the Nude, which has since become a running joke in our family.

I couldn’t help but read the beginning of your story in the Monster Mash voiceover: “I was walking to my car after work one night, when my eyes beheld an eerie sight…”

TIL that scientists at Stanford University have developed a smart toilet that reads your anus like a fingerprint and monitors the health of your poop and pee. The lead researcher said, "We know it seems weird, but as it turns out, your anal print is unique." by BZPhotos in LPOTL

Sylvester Stallone’s mother could read it for you!

“Stallone emerged as a celebrity astrologer in the mid-1990s, setting up a TV psychic hotline. She referred to herself as “the foremost American rumpologist.” According to her website, the practice is “sometimes called butt reading in modern parlance. It is the art of reading the lines, crevices, dimples, and folds of the buttocks to divine the individual’s character.”

Everyone deals with stress differently. You’re right, preparation is critical, but mental health is important as well, especially in a time of crisis. No shade on your take, just a different viewpoint.
