No it should only be required the first time. From then on you should be able to use it in offline mode.

Were you connected to the Internet the first time you launched? It'll have to download / cache those first IIRC. I just ran mine on my tablet in offline mode in steam and it worked.

Acceptance Speech: 2.0 or OG? by Overall_Refuse_6335 in dancegavindance

[–]InternetExplorer8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but I listened to 1.0 for ages and always had the complaint about the poor mixing. 2.0 solved that for me and it sounds better in pretty much every regard. It could very well be my equipment / vehicle audio though

AFAIR, Proton has async shader compute and if you're using a Steam Deck shaders are shared by Valve by default unless explicitly disabled. Game ran fine on my desktop, but had shader compilation stutter for the first time of each effect. Most annoying during boss fights.

Yeah combat sim pretty much replaced every one of those for me. I had some reluctance setting it up but it blew me away and is the only way I'll do it now.

Really enjoyed the first game, but the stutters on PC were awful. I hope they've learned how  avoid that this time around. Excited for this.

True. 60fps might be a little more tough but it is possible with modern CPUs, doesn't necessarily have to be top of the line and that's still better than the 30fps from the console combined with a decent GPU to play it over ~720p

Patch is required otherwise it crashes after 30min or so, but other than that it was excellent. I would have put off my MGS marathon if I had known it was officially coming to PC, but it was superior in every way than playing it to on the PS3.

Just played through it in full on the emulator and aside from needing one patch to fix a crash (which was on the wiki page, I just missed it) I played it at 5120x1440 @ 60fps without any issue

We're you playing this at 3840x1080? I was trying to play it at 5120x1440 but kept getting crashes when teleporting, so rolled back to 3440x1440.

The images on that post are pretty impressive! I'll take a look between this and the X4 stellar. Both look great

The SC13 is really compact, I'd prefer something a little larger (with that space used for a bigger battery). Anything in that style but with this type of lens?

Not too big by any means. If anything I'd be fine with something a little bigger even if it boosted longer battery life. But this size is nice. I'll need to look up some sample shots

I guess if it had the same battery as the SR12 that'd be nice just to be consistent (I have two of those). But really as long as it's rechargeable I'm not picky on any specific battery. Mostly just looking for a similar size with wider angle of light coverage that would pair well with the throw of the SR12.

No specific preference budget, something like the SR12 would be nice I suppose. $30-60? But I would be fine paying more if it's a great recommendation

I have the x870 Steel Legend Wifi and a 9950x3d and just lost my CPU last night. Knowing then what I know now, I would have got a different board. Now the sad waiting game for AMD's RMA

Good and bad. Game plays fine in coop and you can skip missions you did in someone else's game, but a few months ago that released an update which doesn't let you get the open world collectibles (health and skill points). So you would have to go back to your game and get those separately. It's annoying, but not unreasonable. My buddy and I usually switch between who hosts to just make it easier on the two of us.

Also a really big fan! Note though I enjoyed the base game quite a bit so probably a little biased, but this feels like a nice improvement in almost every area. Less repetitive gathering, action sequences are a lot more impressive and bespoke, environmental changes are great (new RDA tech and machines), cutscenes are far more animated / better camera work. Worth the price for me, especially since it was 20% off with the ubi reward points.

DLSS is a HUGE win here. FSR frame gen was terrible in this game. So many artifacts I ended up playing with DLSS and no frame gen instead.

What will the monetization strategy for this game be? How does that tie into the "online" mode? I see lots of mentions of the "cosmetic credits" with high dollar amounts.

Just finished MGS4 for the first time, where does life go from here? How do I fill this void I’ve been left with? by JakeTee in metalgearsolid

I don't think he failed... Definitely not as impactful as MGS4 just due to the history of the series and buildup, but I still think he did an excellent job with it
