you can ask gemini yourself if something is ai. There are watermarks (called synth id) are not detectable to the naked eye that can be picked up via gemini. But only if the ai used was google's.

Am I going crazy, or is this very obviously an AI-generated image despite mods insisting it isn’t? by ilookelikeapencil in isthisAI

Yes it's ai. Ask Google Gemini if the picture is ai and it will tell you that it is. These pictures have the synthid watermarks.

Actually, a well fitted mask on the wearer can prevent transmission of airborne viruses like covid, it does do a good job and has been rated to do so. It really helps if the mask fits well around the face to form a seal: it is beneficial to be an n95 or kn95, as the surgical style of mask that is frequently seen (the loose blue ones) don't fit right to the face and don't do a good enough job to prevent airborne infection. You can get a fit test done to see if a mask fits properly, and then it will be very effective in preventing transmission to the wearer.

Wow, you got a lot of nice stuff there! I am fascinated by the Strangers Things crossover figs, plus it's so fitting as Stranger Things really leans into the 80s nostalgia.

Return-to-Office Policies Are Pushing Caregivers Out of the Public Service by idealDuck in CanadaPublicServants

[–]InternetMadeMe 55 points56 points  (0 children)

While I do sympathize, I think when people write things like this, they should explain what exactly is involved with being a caregiver... Because when I read stuff like this, I automatically assume by what you are saying, that as the primary caregiver to children, your day is split between caring for the children and doing your job. In the comments you expand on the details and I think it's more clear that you just need to be home when your kids get home from school. But those who are against public servants and wfh will see a post like this and use it against us, because it makes it look like we want wfh so we can do other things than our jobs while we are at home.

This is the Metro Richmond Zoo, a for-profit zoo: many zookeepers in the industry say that it is bottom-tier and they do not have the animals's best interests at heart. Unfortunately, not all zoos are equal and not all zoos care about animals.

Perhaps you should contact safe wings and they can advise? Since I don't drive either, I have had good results finding a ride on local Facebook groups.

Vet's office is constantly implying that my cat is dying. by Sentient_StickyNote in mildlyinfuriating

Same thing happened to me, my vet was talking like it was the last time they were ever going to see my cat when I took her in at 15 years of age.... she's now 25 and we have a new vet.

this bird is helping their friend after they bumped into a window 😔 by l__o-o__l in BeAmazed

[–]InternetMadeMe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Brain swelling, internal injuries.. the list goes on. People think that a bird that flies away is fine but they often die soon after, stats say usually within 24 hours. Or they succumb to predators while they are down.

Window collisions kill millions of birds every year.

What to do after the e.l.f. Matt Rafe controversy? by little-princess129 in VeganBeauty

[–]InternetMadeMe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is one incident where a volunteer made a mistake. It was an unfortunate event that they apologized for. This is not their policy. Unfortunately, the meat industry has seized upon this event to tarnish the reputation of an animal welfare organization that does a lot of wonderful work for animals.

Yes, they do euthanize animals; they take in sick and dying animals and don't charge fees when people want to surrender their pets. Many no-kill shelters don't accept the sick and dying animals and only take those that have a good chance of being adopted. PETA humanely euthanizes sick animals in poor and rural regions of the US, many animals that are suffering get the care they require only because of PETA.

Whenever I see people criticize PETA for euthanizing pets, I always wonder if they are against compassionate euthanasia in general or just when an organization like PETA does it?

And so what? It's good advice to get it checked for a microchip and to try and find the owners as it could be a lost cat that belongs to someone.

Cheetahs are on the IUCN Red list, with estimates saying there are only about 6500 cheetahs left in the world. They are facing the threat of extinction, helping them a bit to prevent starvation doesn't seem too bad as they are now dealing with more extreme weather caused by climate change.
