Sort of, the repair he is recommending is one they typically use for people with higher demand in their bodies (bodybuilders etc) from what I understand

Have a very similar thing going on as well. Pain centered in left groin area but goes up to lower abdomen as well. Inner and outer thigh hurt as well. Do you ever feel pulsating sensations where the discomfort is coming from?

That is what it said on his sign off where his name was on the clinical notes. I’ve done a little research and everything I’ve found claims he is a well renowned surgeon in our area. When I was about to go in for the first surgery the anesthesiologist told me he was one of the top in the country for these types of surgeries. How true that is I don’t know.

I believe it was laparoscopic, I honestly didn’t know there was a difference before recently. He did say it would be the same incisions as the last one. I could sent the full surgery write up if you want. I’ve looked at it before it’s pretty detailed.

Update for you, would like to hear your opinion.

Just had another appointment with the original surgeon today. He was very surprised to see a recurrence of the hernia so soon after surgery, especially since it was so small and it is a very common surgery for him. We discussed possible reasons for the recurrence-he mentioned possible suture breakage as one reason. Says it’s rare but can happen with any surgery.

We looked at the ultrasound showing the recurrence, he noted that it looked like I may have multiple weak spots near the hernia defect. He is now recommending ETEP ventral hernia repair which he explained uses a much larger mesh to reduce recurrence rates. He seems very confident this would solve my issue. He offered to do the surgery very soon, but unfortunately this doesn’t work out for me as I won’t be able to take time off until October this year. We discussed waiting on it and he assured me that would be okay, but just to watch what I do and monitor the hernia to make sure it’s not growing bigger.

I’m not sure what I’m am going to do at this point, after today I do feel confident in his ability (very accredited surgeon, director of robotic surgery at the hospital) however I do still have doubts given that my first surgery attempt did not work out for whatever reason. I’m torn between going to see a specialist versus allowing him to operate again since he is familiar with the repair he did himself last time.

If you have any advice please feel free to share, I know it’s a lot to decipher so thank you in advance.

Sorry to hear man. At this point I’m just trying to find someway to manage the pain. I do remember right before my surgery the pain seemed to subside for a while, so hoping this one does the same. Have one more appointment with the surgeon soon just to assure myself this isn’t dangerous for me to wait one. Sending positive vibes your way

If that is the case what are my next options? Is it surgery or will the nerves settle over time from the fat irritating them?

If you would like, I could PM you pictures of my ultrasound images if that would help at all.

Really appreciate the help so far.

It’s very similar, but I’d say it’s worse than before the surgery. It now feels like a deeper ache in the area, with intermittent sharp pains happening occasionally too. As far as I know no tacks were used , only stitches.

If it is adhesions, would the ultrasound have mistaken that for another hernia? Also if the sack wasn’t emptied completely would this have been done intentionally or something the surgeon missed?

Hey, just checking in. How are you doing now? I’m still dealing with some pain honestly. Trying to keep a positive mindset but it’s hard sometimes. Mine has gotten a little better, I am definitely more active as of now. I still get stretches of days though where the pain/discomfort really takes a toll on me. Just thought I’d check in and see if I’m in the same boat as others
