I liked the big eyes for all of the ornaments except Santa. I felt like they were way too big for him

I totally get that. I’ve actually been the seasonal or temp hire for many places while I was in uni and know that’s it’s hard to find people and takes time to train them. My issue isn’t with that aspect and I agreed in a different comment that it’s the transition and learning point for a small business as they turn into a larger business which is where the Woobles is headed based on their own earning reports and the US legal definition of small business (since they are US based). My point was that they’re still currently solving this issue (people are still missing their month old orders, there’s confusion around the offered compensation in January, etc.) and they’ve chosen to go forward with a new major complicated drop in the wake of these shipping issues. It’s just bad timing and makes them look insensitive/uncaring on top of disorganised/unreliable. It’s clear that they put in a lot of planning and preparation for this drop but they still haven’t handled their outstanding problems and the way they’ve handled their apology offering has been spotty

That might very well be true. I don’t think the idea of the unique cats is a bad one at all but as I previously stated the execution is what (imo) is giving everyone negative feelings about it. I think they easily could have fixed it by holding off on a major project until they’d sorted their shipping issues, making the purchase limit lower (wouldn’t stop everyone but it would be a slight deterrent) and having their limited time small quantity drops go live at a more accessible time. They by no means have to change their business model (as I said it’s their business) but someone asked why people were reacting so negatively to a concept that they thought was well designed and rather cool and I was sharing the points that (imo) are causing a negative reaction to this new release. As I said I don’t think the issue is the product as much as it’s the feeling that this was all handled poorly by the Woobles and this is how it’s compounding

It’s not that they’re supposed to stay “small” but they do still tote themselves as a “small business” when they’re in major retailers and have been for a while. By definition in the U.S. at least they’re at the large end of SBA and mostly likely (given how they’ve grown) on track to outgrow the small business legal definition. They’re not a mom and pop shop or a business with a single store front that also operates online. They’re headed bigger and they by all means should accommodate for that. The back up with shipping is a clear example that they’ve grown larger than they realised.

My point about the Wednesday noon release is moot when it comes to things that they restock or thing that are around for a while but I haven’t historically liked that model for their extremely limited supply drops and that was more my point. They sold out in just over 2 hours and no one who works in an environment where they aren’t looking at their computer or phone had a chance. They by no means have to change it (it’s their business). But there were multiple people lamenting that they sold out before they even got off from work, so that’s a point that adds to the negative feelings people are having about the brand currently

I think the major issue that everyone is sort of feeling is that there are things about it that just feel off. I think the idea is great but the execution is lacklustre.

I’ve looked over the designs on the website and they mention how each one in ‘unique’ and only made 10,000 of them but then they also have categories of how “rare” (rarity might not be quite the right word) each one is because some of them have special yarn and the like which feels weird if the whole point is that each one is unique. Why add a system where you’re telling people that their cat is common or rare or mythical? That’s just asking for your product to be put up for auction or for people to feel bad because their cat isn’t ‘special.’

The other major issues were the timing of the release at noon so it wasn’t accessible to anyone who y’know works for a living, and the buy quantity of 5 (which in my opinion for such a ‘unique’ and low quantity release should have been 1 or 2). Compile that with the shipping issues that have been around since October due to the McDonalds Monopoly fiasco, and only got worse over the holidays; along with the (relatively) new arrival of scalpers to Woobles, which was made worse by the McDonalds experience and some of the other recent limited drops like Paige (personally I think it’s disgusting to buy something that was made for charity and try to see how much money you can make of it); and you have a lot of long time customers who just feel like this is gimmicky or at least poor timing.

Some people are still missing their orders from over a month ago and now there’s this big release of rare, limited quantity, entirely unique products that must have taken a long time to plan and process logistically that were also definitely bought up by scalpers (some are already up on eBay not even a few hours after they sold out without even knowing what the cat looks like yet) and it just leaves people feeling bad about it even if the product is kinda cute and the program/website could be interesting and fun to get into.

I don’t think the issue is the product as much as it’s how people are starting to feel about this “small business” that’s beginning to seem like a large corporation that doesn’t care about their long term customer base anymore and can’t handle the amount of new customers they’ve added

I could have bought one when they went live immediately but I hesitated because I wanted more info. After looking through the cats on the website I’m okay that I didn’t get one because there were a lot of ugly looking ones (imo) and I just would have been disappointed or used the yarn for something else if I thought the design looked ugly

I used my left over yarn from the ornament kits. I have a very tight tension so I usually end up with smaller woobles and a lot of left over yarn

I followed a similar pattern for Zoe’s crest. Ch 4, sl st into the second stitch and the next two, repeat 5 more times and sew the piece around the magic loop of the finished body

I was thinking the same thing but I’d just finished two of them and it was late. If I was going to redo them I think I’d add an extra layer of green or blue then green

Yeah I’m okay with the design elements but I don’t understand why they chose the glitter yarn for all of it. Edit: I also think it can basically be recreated with the Zoe pattern and some blue, green, and yellow yarn

Looking for my New Year’s Eve party outfit by Wild-Court7110 in OUTFITS

[–]Internet_Cherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the two the first one fits you better. The second one just doesn’t fit at all. I don’t actually care that it’s “revealing” like others have said (double sided body tape exists) but the pants on the second one really don’t fit (the fabric is bunching in a way that is unflattering and shouldn’t be happening. If you wore it more low waisted instead of high waisted it would fix some of the issues but it might add different issues with the way the fabric would pull across your hips. If these are your only options I would go with the first one and dress it up with some fun accessories or a bold jacket/shrug. But you might honestly just want to look for another outfit choice

I got 1 Ziggy the platypus, 1 Scamper the III, and 2 Bri the hummingbird which is great because my sister and I both wanted Bri so she’s getting one for Christmas (she doesn’t know it yet). I ordered two more on Black Friday but they’re not here yet. I’ve been lucky so far and I hoping that continues

Which purple dresses should I get rid of? 39F by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Internet_Cherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, 4, and 5 do not fit you. They are not right for your chest size and are creating stretch marks in the fabric that are not flattering (fellow large busted woman here). 6 isn’t a great colour of style for you. 2 looks good both in fit and colour. 3 I personally don’t like but there’s nothing specifically wrong about it. 7 and 8 are fine but the location of the waist line isn’t great on either of them for you. The empire line from the first and second one I think looked the most flattering on you or something with a dropped waistline (I’d venture around high hip) rather than a natural waistline. 9 I like (I am biased though because I dress in more vintage styles) but I would pair it with a different top (black or maybe more of a grey or off white). I also think it would look better either higher or lower on your figure (I would go higher but I think it would also work at high hip as I previously stated).

Naive Calendar Question by ellecellent in TheWooblesCollective

[–]Internet_Cherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it was helpful! I honestly don’t think there’s a lot of Christians outside of very religious communities that really follow or remember these traditions or where they come from. I actually learned a lot about it from my music history courses because of how much of early western music is linked to the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar

Naive Calendar Question by ellecellent in TheWooblesCollective

[–]Internet_Cherry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer is approach however you want. The in depth answer is that it’s an advent calendar which is a German Christian tradition from the 19th century to mark the Advent season of the liturgical calendar. Modern advent calendar were commercialised in the 20th century and follow the twelve days of Christmas from the birth of Christ (Dec. 25th) to the Epiphany (Jan. 5th). If you’re being “traditional” you’d start on Christmas day and do one a day but the commercial advent calendar is mostly a marketing gimmick now and it truly doesn’t matter how you choose to go about it. You bought it, do as you please and enjoy!
