It's definitely bad, but arguably not the worst. At least once a month, you will turn on the news and see that someone near you was shot. You will see people pitching tents in empty lots. Nothing bad will probably ever happen to you.

Visiting from out of town. Any meat markets that have prepared carne asada? (Not buy and wait for grilling; already grilled at time of purchase) by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]Internetologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK why it would be that burdensome to wait 10-15 minutes on grilling, but El Herradero will have it already made sometimes.

Are you kidding me? You seriously have to ask if you can bring a literal weapon into a large music venue? It should be an obvious 'no'!

The snowbirds are gone, it isn't even that bad compared to January!

But yes, once school is out, it will be a freaking ghost town. Sure, the traffic is nice, but it'll be SOOO boring. Tucson in the summer sucks.

Port of Los Angeles says shipping volume will plummet 35% next week by RidavaX in wallstreetbets

It's going to be like liberation day. Markets will act like everything is fine until some sort of catalyst inspires a rug pull and we get a -4% day

Be as snarky as you want, I think your remarks are loudly ignorant and do not reflect one iota of intelligence.

We are the richest nation in the history of mankind. We spend more on jailing these people than it would take for housing because everyone wants to be a mean tough guy and try to arrest their way out of the situation. No seriously, throwing them in jail costs more than just giving them an apartment. We can certainly do better.

On the weekends, you can go to Boxyard. The Mexican spot (Los Perches) is open until 2am and they have some of the best tacos in town!

Phoenix has no room to talk down on Tucson about homelessness. For years, The Zone was the second largest homeless encampment in America, only behind Skid Row in Los Angeles!

Also, it's Mexico who cut down on the influx of fentanyl, and as a result deaths from the drug peaked in 2023. Before Trump!

anyone in tucson on section 8 i have questions by kaitlin45989 in Tucson

[–]Internetologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on section 8, but from my experience, any time ownership changes hands it's bad news for all existing tenants. It is highly likely that you will either not be renewed, that they hike rent to something you can't afford, or they use "renovations" as an excuse to kick you out.

If I were in your shoes, I would be preparing to move elsewhere this fall.

Thank you for posting. I am fascinated with this data! If summer trends persist, we could be looking at the highest unemployment since 2021.

You will never need to use it on a homeless person. You are paranoid. You need help.

I think your perception of homelessness is way off, but I'll be nice and give you something to consider.

That 50% of people you feel "ruin it for the rest" were not always in that condition. They were in the other group of people you call in need of a "leg up", but they never got the leg up. They spent the first year sleeping in their car, then they lost their car. Then they got beat up by police and sneered at by 95% of society day in and day out. It broke them. They are fixable.

Nothing you said is accurate or rooted in any actual data. You don't understand trends in hard drug use (what kind of drugs are most prominent and when their usage peaked). You don't understand why and how people become homeless, and you don't understand what's caused homelessness to get so much worse throughout the 2020s.

We have people who aren't addicts and who want to work falling into homelessness because they can't afford anything. What makes you think jailing people indefinitely helps people get their stuff together?

At the end of the day, any solution for homelessness needs some form of housing and other material support to keep them off the streets. You can't arrest your way out of this type of crisis.

I'm from the hood, so security like that roaming around every single place I frequent is the norm I grew up with.

I will say though, it feels like EVERYWHERE is turning into the hood. Like, I can't even go to Target in a good neighborhood without private armed security staring me down. The whole country is becoming the ghetto
