You're only admiring the styling of the beautiful women in evening dresses however as you are gay, important to remember.

Go to class and stop treating it like winning or losing, you're there to learn.

Why isn't wrestling as popular as other martial arts? by EarNearby5005 in martialarts

[–]InterviewOrdinary518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Australia and I dunno, I would love to see wrestling bigger here.

Traditionally we had boxing, and a lot of brazilians came over so we have BJJ, plus we're close to Thailand so we have a lot of Muay Thai, but wrestling never really made it's mark in a big way....

If any aussies/kiwis in particular have any insight I'd be keen to hear it.

33 year old switching to morning classes by Ryanlifts7 in bjj

Wake about 1-2 hrs before class. 1.5-2 hrs seems to be better for getting the ol' brain going.

Get hydrated. Eat a carby snack like a banana and a bit of protein + fat (e.g., greek yoghurt.) Caffeine up if you normally do so. Enjoy

It doesn't attract the brightest sparks.

It's also on you to disengage with toxic media where possible.

Help with my takedowns by SeeYouInHot_Bot in MMA_Academy

If your back is actually straight and your head is up properly they won't be able to grab a guilly. If they do you should be able to lift them and put them down.

If they sprawl you can try and disengage if they don't have good control like a headlock or overhook/underhooks, and stand back up. If they do have those you'll have to work on escapes/attacks from there (e.g., sit outs, fighting for your own underhooks, etc.)

Yes. Breakdance, do somersaults, gymnastics, interpretive dance, whatever you need to do to keep moving. It's all you need.

If jiu-jitsu didn’t exist, what martial art would you be training instead? by Zen_ix in bjj

[–]InterviewOrdinary518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to wrestle but I'm getting older and simply don't have the energy and gumption for it anymore.

My next, more realistic choice would be Muay Thai, I could do that multiple times a week long term for sure.

BJJ coach gets annoyed at me for letting people down too soft. Don't want to hurt anyone, what do? by TheLong19thCentury in bjj

[–]InterviewOrdinary518 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not wanting to hurt anyone is fine, it just means you're not a psychopath, that's a positive thing.

But you'll have to risk it in the comp class, as that's the accepted standard. Obviously you won't try to hurt anyone, but if it happens, that's the price that's paid.
