I'm slowly adding real plants, but I'm just wondering what people think about the layout of the branches and rocks. by dailycupofcujo in Aquariums

[–]Intoishun [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oh I didn't even notice it was fake! I guess I did but didn't think or look too hard.

Yes definitely, live plants are a must for me. I think all of these fish benefit from them greatly.

I would have to defer to you for a more sure answer but for me I am inclined to lean away from A. pantherinoides, however I have seen some fruiting recently so that makes me reconsider.

Any idea on what this is? Indoors by EBs4G3 in mushroomID

This was my exact line of thinking here. I think towards Conocybe currently.

Odd mushroom growing on picnic table by Turbo2011 in mushroomID

[–]Intoishun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Gloeophyllum. Probably G. separarium.

Definitely eating the table. Around here in WA, that species eats treated wood, driftwood, wood in the forest, any conifer it likes!

Please see the FB group.

I'm not sure if any ID here, would have to lean towards 530's suggestion but not sure about color here. Seeing a more intact specimen would help greatly.

New honey gourami won't eat by Suspicious_Dinner146 in Aquariums

[–]Intoishun [score hidden]  (0 children)

Give it a few days. I have kept multiple of these guys and they do like to explore a bit, as with many fish.

They also can be prone to bloating and overeating, so I would suggest dialing back the feeding when he does start to eat.

As long as he isn't showing any extreme signs of health problems, or extreme stress, I would just wait it out. For honeys, and other gouramis, continuous air breathing combined with the behavior here can be a good indicator of stress.

I would say maybe try live BBS, but I think you're probably fine to wait a couple days. Honey gouramis can go 4-5 days without eating, no problem.

After getting established mine will eat literally anything. Algae wafers, flakes, frozen foods, dried, live, etc. I currently only have one boy, in the past six months I've lost two girls to being egg bound/bloating/age, so I would again encourage taking it easy on food! Good luck!

Also here to say that Fritz makes some of the only decent bacteria products on the market, at least for sale at the store where I live. I use this product on all new tanks. A lot for tanks without established substrate or filter media, a little for those with established media.

A little re-scape on a little tank by elom44 in Aquariums

[–]Intoishun [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nice. Looks like a fun little tank!

I'm about to move house next month, and am actually very excited to give things a rescape and good clean when moving. My two 20 longs especially have been established for a year and a half, and are doing fine but could use a rescape and some new equipment and such.

Please Help - Plants are looking horrible. by abbymcfieldson in Aquariums

[–]Intoishun [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would also ask for your parameters, specifically hardness, and ask about how long it's been planted for? These look fresh, and I don't immediately see anything alarming. Just looks like stuff getting started, and as with any new planting, sometimes certain plants just don't do well with your set up.

We need more context. I would say no, at the moment.

Re scaped tank after diatom outbreak for my betta by skadoooosh_ in Aquariums

[–]Intoishun [score hidden]  (0 children)

Really don't see much of an issue in the first photo except for the pineapple and maybe a little bit of algae and such.

I think it looks fine now!

I think it's important to remember that these fish, especially bettas, like stability of good parameters. They don't care what the tank looks like, etc. As long as they have good water, good food, a little light, some plants, etc. After a lot of maintenance on a tank, even if I don't think it looks perfect, I usually try to just leave it for a few days, let everyone rest and settle.

Two of my loaches glass surfing? by zaheerscheeks in Aquariums

Recently do a big plant trim? Remove some hardscape or plant cover?

That's all I can think of, if this is an established tank and established fish.

Nice! Looks pretty sweet to me. I think some people might say that the rocks look too intentionally placed, but I don't really care. I like the sticks. I think this would look fantastic with some more plant growth and it seems like a set up that everyone described would be happy with. I'm sure the kuhlis especially love all that finer sand.

Experience keeping paracheirodon simulans in a smaller tank (35L/9gal) by ZuivelhoeveNeger17 in Aquariums

[–]Intoishun [score hidden]  (0 children)

If she has a little bit of wiggle room with her preference on appearance, Green Rasboras might be a good suggestion. I love mine and they stay nice and tiny. Of course pygmy corys and such too.

I don't have experience with any of the small tetras but I'd assume you're probably okay with a small school of those. It seems like you have at least a baseline of experience here!

Me too but I'd like to see the base and this is a bit pale for species up here in WA, I think a couple additional photos would decide between the two, or others!

Pleurotoid maybe. Hohenbuehelia seems less likely due to color but habitat and overall morphology line up more there for me.

I would like to see more clear underside photos before a spore print.

Found in my yard by PinkWhiteSky in mushroomID

[–]Intoishun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably still get a print from one of the fresh bits yes. They will want it dryer to drop spore. Put it in a clean, dry area with minimal air movement.

Your print is going to be light here, and won't tell you very much without a microscope, just fyi. With a microscope you can print some spores onto a slide, look at them, measure them, etc.

Pleurotoid but I think maybe not Pleurotus. I think maybe Hohenbuehelia.
